Raging McCain Rips Trump for Pardon of Sheriff Joe Arpaio

When it comes to criticizing President Donald Trump it doesn’t take much to set off crotchety old John McCain and as usual, the mavericky one had plenty to say following Trump’s pardon of the aging Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The former Maricopa County lawman was politically persecuted by the Obama regime despite his years of service and faced spending time in jail over what were ginned-up charges of racial profiling.

Translation: he was as hard as nails when it came to illegal aliens, something that Obama and his allies in the notorious Gang of Eight couldn’t live with.

On Friday,  following days of speculation, Trump exercised his presidential power to pardon and freed Arpaio from the gross injustices that he suffered by Obama’s minions and spared an 85-year-old patriot the indignity of imprisonment.

McCain quickly blasted Trump over his “disregard” for the law and was joined by his buddy Jeff Flake.

Via The Hill “McCain blasts Trump over Arpaio pardon”:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) blasted President Trump over his pardon of former Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Friday, arguing it “undermines his claim for the respect of rule of law.”

“Mr. Arpaio was found guilty of criminal contempt for continuing to illegally profile Latinos living in Arizona based on their perceived immigration status in violation of a judge’s orders,” McCain said in a statement.

“The President has the authority to make this pardon, but doing so at this time undermines his claim for the respect of rule of law as Mr. Arpaio has shown no remorse for his actions.”

Arpaio was convicted of criminal contempt after he disobeyed a federal judge’s order to stop racially profiling individuals suspected of illegally entering the U.S.

McCain’s counterpart in the Senate, Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), also criticized Trump’s decision to pardon Arpaio on Friday.

“Regarding the Arpaio pardon, I would have preferred that the President honor the judicial process and let it take its course,” Flake wrote on Twitter.

Both GOP senators have become outspoken critics of the president, who used a campaign rally in Phoenix earlier this week to go after the pair, without naming them.

The White House announced Trump’s decision to pardon Arpaio on Friday night, sparking backlash from Democrats and civil rights organizations.

The bitter old McCain would attack Trump even if he invented the cure for the glioblastoma that will soon – but not soon enough for many – send the six-term career politician to his great reward.

He will be joined by all of his Democrat pals along with the Never Trumpers who will be falling over each other trying to get on record expressing their displeasure that the POTUS would use his powers to save a decent man whose style may have been abrasive but it worked.

Just more sour grapes from a sour man whose pathetic 2008 presidential campaign put Barack Obama into the White House in the first place.
