Trump Signs the Executive Order on Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty in the Rose Garden at the White House

The order requests the IRS to use the maximum amount of enforcement discretion in considering cases where a tax-exempt religious organization official endorses or speaks against a political candidate.

“For too long the federal government has used the power of the state as a weapon against people of faith,” the president said in his speech. “No one should be censoring sermons or targeting pastors.”
