Sen. Rand Paul drops out of Presidential Race
Rand Paul suspended his bid for the Republican presidential nomination on Wednesday.
Having fared poorly – although better than expected – in Iowa and seeing dim prospects in New Hampshire and South Carolina, Senator Rand Paul announced Wednesday that he is dropping out of the race.
“It’s been an incredible honor to run a principled campaign for the White House. Today, I will end where I began, ready and willing to fight for the cause of Liberty,” Paul said in a statement.
Paul is the second Republican to drop out since Iowa leaving the Republican cast of candidates at 10. Mike Huckabee dropped out Monday night.
More candidates are likely to give-up in the next week. Rick Santorum suddenly postponed tour stops in South Carolina today with many guessing an announcement is forth-coming.
Rand Paul will now be able to focus on his Senate re-election campaign in Kentucky.
