Is It Time To Ban Gun Free Zones?

Once again we see the slaughter of innocence in a gun free zone, I think it is about time we banned these death traps. If there were those that were permitted to carry a gun in that school in Oregon the death toll would have been much less or even not at all. If a gunman knows that there will be someone firing back, he will without a doubt have second thoughts about opening fire, gun free zones are an invitation for crime.

As predicted, Obama came out for more gun control, “We are not the only country on earth that has people with mental illnesses or want to do harm to other people. We are the only advanced country on earth that sees these kinds of mass shootings every few months.” It seems funny to me that he only comes out against guns when it fits his agenda.

Where was he when all those police officers were gunned down by black thugs, where was he when Kate Steinle was gunned down in San Francisco by an illegal immigrant, where was he when all those people were shot down in Chicago, week after week. It seems to me that Obama picks and chooses what to be outraged about.

Time and time again people are slaughtered in gun free zones, in movie theaters, in shopping malls, in schools, on army bases and anywhere else guns are forbidden. Obama’s call for more gun laws is an asinine statement, with all the laws they have on the books now, he just needs to start enforcing them, instead of ignoring them. One thing this meathead of a president does not seem to understand, he can pass all the laws he wants, criminals will always find a way to get guns, that’s why they are called criminals, because they don’t follow the laws. The only people he hurts with new gun control laws are law abiding citizens.

“The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is with a good guy with a gun.” I don’t know who first said that but whoever it was, truer words were never spoken. In a survey of criminals (read that as FELONS IN PRISON), Professors James D. Wright and Peter Rossi of the Social and Demographic Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts conducted a study in 1982 and 1983 paid for by the U.S. Department of Justice. (Professor Rossi was a former President of the American Sociological Association.) The researchers interviewed 1,874 imprisoned felons in ten states.

88% of the criminals surveyed by Wright and Rossi agreed with the statement that, “A criminal who wants a handgun is going to get one.”

81% of interviewees agreed that a “smart criminal” will try to determine if a potential victim is armed.

74% indicated that burglars avoided occupied dwellings, because of fear of being shot.

57% said that most criminals feared armed citizens more than the police.

40% of the felons said that they had been deterred from committing a particular crime, because they believed that the potential victim was armed.

57% of the felons who had used guns themselves said that they had encountered potential victims who were armed.

34% of the criminal respondents said that they had been scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed citizen.

Based on this government-funded research by Wright and Rossi, it would appear that armed citizens do have a deterrent effect on crime.

Obama said in his speech, “Each time this happens, I’m going to bring this up, each time this happens, I am going to say that we can actually do something about it but we’re going to have to change our laws. And this is not something I can do by myself.” If Obama ever pulls his head out of his ass, he would see that gun free zones are the problem.
