Trump sees best .. and worst numbers in new poll

A recently released poll shows Jeb Bush continuing to lose momentum while Walker and Trump continue to rise.

A Quinnipiac University poll released yesterday shows that Donald Trump leads the GOP pack with 20% of Republican voters while Scott Walker takes the second spot with 13% and Jeb Bush slumps to third with just 10% of respondents favoring the former Florida governor.

The rest of the GOP field was far behind the three leaders. Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio led the lower tier with 6% each. Carly Fiorina, Lindsay Graham, George Pataki, and Rick Santorum showed the worst with just 1% support and late-comer Gilmore garnered 0% of those polled.

Unfortunately for Trump, he also leads all other Republicans in the “no way” category as 30% of those polled said they would never support him. Only 2% said they would not vote for Walker and 14% would not support Jeb Bush.

Former Wisconsin governor Scott Walker arguably polled the best among the Republican candidates when both for and against ratings are considered. Walker has strong support from those voters who self-identified as Tea Party (17%), very conservative (15%), somewhat conservative (16%), moderate/liberal (8%). Of those who would not support Walker, no group had more than 3%. 0% of women said they would not support him.

Walker also shows well against possible Democrat opponents.

According to the poll, Walker would be in an almost dead heat against Hillary losing to her by only one point (44-43%), would handily beat Sanders by 5 points and tie with Biden.

As of yesterday, Trump would get thumped by Clinton 48-36%, Biden 49-37% and Bernie Sanders 45-37%.

Jeb Bush fills in the middle of the top tier candidates as he would also lose to Clinton by one point (42-41), lose to Biden by a point (43-42) and top Sanders by 5 (44-39.)

Polling also showed that if the elections were held today, voters are more likely to elect Republicans to the House of Representatives and Senate by a 39-37% margin.
