How Al Jazeera sees Americans [Video]

Apparently, Al Jazeera doesn’t think very highly of Americans. SHOCK, shock I say!

Despite relying on an American audience in order for its Al Jazeera America cable news outlet to survive, the media company launched a youtube video showing Americans as fat, gun-toting, pill-popping, criminal porn watchers.

Some of the statistics are true – but pointing out a few positives in the beginning and a slew of negatives during the remainder is exactly how a pro-con piece is constructed. And pro-con essays are designed to get the reader/viewer to come to the same conclusion as the author/producer.

The video is designed to help Americans and others in the world understand that the United States isn’t that exceptional, is not that awesome. In a sentence, America – you are not that shining city on the hill.
