Obama’s Playing Chess-We’re Playing Marbles

Today I went to my local A&P to get the Sunday papers like I always do. When I stepped up to the counter to  pay I handed the clerk the papers with a headline and picture of Putin and Obama. An elderly lady next to me said, “I hope Obama doesn’t bomb Russia. Why should we fight everybody’s wars?”

I replied “Because we’re the policeman of the world and used to be the strongest nation, but not anymore thanks to him.”

She replied, “He always wants to bomb somebody.”

I didn’t want to get into a big discussion with her because I’m not one to get invoilved in public scenes with strangers where you don’t know who is going to react and how,but this showed me how misinformed she was and probably a member of the low information voter crowd. Obama never bombed anyone unless she was referrirng to his drone attacks.  He’s always making idle threats and drawing a line in the sand and does nothing.  He did that with Egypt saying if the muslim brotherhood takes over there will be consequences. They did and he didn’t do anything. When the Egyptian military took over he said the same thing and did nothing and they took over. When Syria was invaded by the rebels he warned Assad there will be consequences if he responds. Obama did nothing and Syria continued to fight the rebels. When Iran was building their nukes Obama warned them to stop or there will be consequences. They didn’t stop and although he put sanctions on them it didn’t affect them and they didn’t stop with their nuclear program and he later withdrew the sanctions. Just two weeks ago Iranian warships were having maneuvers off the Atlantic coast.

Now with Putin sending his troops around the Ukraine to quell the riots and take-over by the freedom loving Ukranians,  Obama is telling Putin to stop or there will be consequences. Putin  just  laughed. So now Obama is trying sanctions again. Well they say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. I’m sure Putin is shaking in his boots.

The whole world is looking at us like one big joke. Isreal and Saudi Arabia said they can no longer depend on us. That’s a horrible thing to hear from strong allies like Isreal and Saudi Arabia and I’m sure other nations feel the same way.

We used to be No.1 in the world until Obama came along and said it wasn’t right that we are No.1 and we should be like all the other nations. Now the latest listings have us at No.12.

“Putin is playing chess — I think we’re playing marbles,” said Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, speaking on Fox News Sunday. Rogers said the Russians have been “running circles around us” in negotiations on such items as Syria and missile defense.

But Rogers conceded that there are no many good choices facing Obama.
“There is not a lot of options on the table and, candidly, I’m a fairly hawkish guy, sending more naval forces to operate in the Black Sea is really not a very good idea, given that we know that that day has long passed,” the Michigan Republican said “And unless you’re intending to use them, I wouldn’t send them. Now you’ve got only economic options through the EU.”

Obama should cancel American participation in the G8 summit planned for June at Sochi, Russia. And he warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to annex portions of the Crimean peninsula, where Russia rents a naval base from Ukraine.

“This is the most important territory to Putin himself,” Rogers said. “There’s an old expression that Russia without the Ukraine is a country and Russia with the Ukraine is an empire. I do believe Putin understands that but the most important part for him.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, said “we have a weak and indecisive president,” and that “invites aggression.

“President Obama needs to do something,” Graham said. “How about this: Suspend Russian membership in the G8 and the G20 at least for a year, starting right now and every day they stay in Crimea after the suspension. Do something.”

One can only hope, but  I’m not holding my breath.
