The Unintentionally Hilarious Trailer for Pro-Obama Movie

OBAMA! OBAMA!

It’s Friday, so what better way to kick off the weekend than a hilarious trailer promoting an over-the-top pro-Obama movie.  Judging by the 2:30-long trailer for The Obama Effect, the movie, set in 2008, is the fictional account of a man named John (played by Charles S. Dutton) who suffers a heart attack and discovers he’s spared death because he has a mission from God: campaigning for Barack Obama.   No, I’m serious. The promoters of the film cast it as a comedy, but it’s NOT a satire. It really does appear to be a serious movie.

Watch the trailer embedded below page the page break and leave your comments behind. For inspiration, you can check out this hilarious collection from Twitchy.

Judging by the trailer, this is the long-and-short of the plot. Upon seeing Obama delivering his sweet promises of an American Candyland, John quits his white collar job and builds a shrine to the Obamamessiah in his house to the point where the inimitable Senator for Illinois has become the wall paper.  He pimps out his van with all the Obama slogans and tries to convince his undecided Hispanic neighbor to vote for Obama because he’s an awesome guy.  He pesters local hair salon patrons, urging the ladies to be on the right side of history (whatever that means) and finally, as The Blaze noted, finds meaning in his life.

I guess working hard to have what appears to be a good-paying job, a beautiful wife, and a spacious home didn’t cut it for John until Barack Obama entered his meaningless life.

Now, perhaps the trailer was edited a bit deceptively and the plot is a little more complex and twisted than it suggests. Moviemakers have been known to do that bait-and-switch. But even so, it’s hard to imagine the actual movie is going to in any way be critical of President Obama and how his “hope and change” haven’t panned out as oh so many hoped.
