An Armed Society Is A Polite Society
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that violent crime dropped in 2011. The number of murders, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults all went down by a total of 4 perecent, continuing a pattern. The Gun-control advocates’ multimillion-dollar lobbying efforts are designed to manufacture mass anxiety and suggest that every gun owner is a potential killer. But they are quite silent when crime rates decline.
Regarding the crime decline pattern, Andrew Arulanandam, spokesman for the National Rifle Association (NRA) said, “This is not a one-year anomaly, but a steady decline in the FBI’s violent-crime rates. It would be disingenuous for anyone to not credit increased self-defense laws to account for this decline.” Today, 41 states either allow carrying without a permit or have “shall issue” laws that make it easy for just about any noncriminal to get a permit.
Gun manufacturing is the one private-sector industry “doing fine” during Obama’s time in office. Sturm, Ruger & Co. sold 1 million firearms in the first quarter of 2012, up 50 percent over the same period in 2011. Smith & Wesson announced a firearm-order backlog of approximately $439 million by the end of April, 2012, up 135 percent from the same quarter in 2011.
Obama could take credit for the reduction in violent crime that has followed the spike in gun ownership during his presidency. Instead, he’s silent about his greatest positive accomplishment because Obama has a record of opposing our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. During his 2008 campaign, Obama told voters, “I have no intention of taking away folks’ guns.” He stated “Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear.” Suuuuuuuuuuuure! Obama also said that the Washington D.C. handgun ban was Constitutional. He also told Sarah Brady that “I just want you to know that we are working on it. We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”
History has established that criminals will be able to get guns whether the rest of the citizenry is allowed to have them or not. Law-abiding gun ownership is a check against crime and government tyranny.
So I think its safe to say that that the bad guys would rather not commit crimes against people who are armed.
But that’s just my opinion.
