Another Obama Attack Website

Soros funded liberal White House front group, Obama for America, previously known as Organizing for America, sent a solicitation email yesterday rallying the progressive troops to “turn in” their friends and neighbors when they hear something negative about President Obama’s record.

Asking recipients to “become part of one of our most important teams” and “fight back” against smears. The email reads “you’ll be on the front lines” and “we’ll count on you… to let us know about new smears whenever you hear them,” directing readers to a website called AttackWatch.com.

In much the same tone as Teamsters head Jimmy Hoffa’s latest remarks at a political rally where he called the Tea Party movement a bunch of SOB’s and suggested Obama’s army “take them out,” the email uses multiple references to attacks, war and even accuses a Republican of quoting Saddam Hussein. Not exactly the new tone of civility that the anti-bully president demanded of the Tea Party following the Tucson shooting.

This is not the first time the occupants of the White House have attempted to create a Nixonian enemies list. In 2008, Organizing for America, a “project of the Democratic National Committee,” launched the “Fight the Smears” website. It attempted to gather information on who was publishing or disseminating information harmful to the Obama campaign. The website has a link to email WatchDog@BarackObama.com.

Then in August of 2009, Senior Advisor to the President David Axelrod sent an unsolicited spam email asking “friends” of the President to start a chain email regarding the health care reform debate. The email was sent via a Minnesota company called GovDelivery which claims to be the “world’s leading provider of government-to-citizen communication solutions.” How the company obtained thousands of email addresses or where those addresses are stored currently is not clear, but obviously Organizing for America had been storing email addresses since before 2008.

Shortly thereafter the White House launched a new plan to find opponents on the web. Made public first on the White House blog, wwww.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck compiled information on visitors to the site if they emailed a question or “signed in” via social media websites to learn more about health care reform. There was some talk at the time about the legality of the White House collecting personal data.

Judge Andrew Napolitano appeared on multiple news shows and FoxNews.com repeating the same mantra.

The White House is in a bit of a conundrum because of this privacy statute that prohibits the White House from collecting data and storing it on people who disagree with it. There’s a statute that requires the White House to retain all communications that it receives. It can’t try to rewrite history by pretending it didn’t receive anything… If the White House deletes anything, it violates one statute. If the White House collects data on the free speech, it violates another.

And now we have AttackWatch.com. The theme and color scheme (Red, Black & White) of the site is eerily similar to the Socialist Party USA website and carries the tagline “Get the facts. Fight the smears.” The “news” links that supposedly fight the “attacks” by critics are all written by leftwing media groups like Soros-funded Media Matters and ThinkProgress.org.

The information obtained by Obama for America will be shared with third parties as outlined in the Privacy Policy, which interestingly is a link to BarackObama.com. Anyone reporting an attack via the website will have their data stored and shared with groups similar to Media Matters, Think Progress and others. Attacks can also be reported via twitter, www.twitter.com/attackwatch.
