Obama Blames Bad Luck For Economic Woes

In what must be a first, rather than blaming George W. Bush for the economy, Obama blamed “bad luck.” In Decorah, Iowa, Obama claimed that his economic program “reversed the recession” until recovery was frustrated by events overseas. Then, with the economy in a precarious position, the recovery suffered another setback when Republicans insisted on federal spending cuts in exchange for an increase in the national debt limit, resulting in what Obama called a “debacle.”

Said Obama on Monday [15 August, 2011], “We had reversed the recession, avoided a depression, gotten the economy moving again But over the last six months we’ve had a run of bad luck.” Obama cited three events – the Arab Spring uprisings, the tsunami in Japan, and the European debt crises – which set the economy back. “All those things have been headwinds for our economy. Now, those are things that we can’t completely control. The question is, how do we manage these challenging times and do the right things when it comes to those things that we can control?” Obama continued, “The problem is that we’ve got the kind of partisan brinksmanship that is willing to put party ahead of country, that is more interested in seeing their political opponents lose than seeing the country win. Nowhere was that more evident than in this recent debt ceiling debacle.”

Wow! And we know that NOTHING is ever Obama’s fault – like his continued, failed policies. I think it was Albert Einstein who once said that doing the same thing over and over again when it produces the same end result is a sign of insanity. But don’t think for a moment that Obama is insane. The economy is doing as he plans. As a disciple of Saul Alinsky and a believer in the Cloward-Piven Strategy, he knows EXACTLY what he is doing. Meanwhile, On Vacation On TWO Jets

Michelle Obama and President Obama traveled to Martha’s Vineyard on separate aircraft, just hours apart, costing taxpayers thousands in additional expenses so she could have just a bit of extra vacation time. Mrs. Obama and her daughters arrived just before 2 pm Thursday on a U.S. government jet. President Obama arrived in the evening aboard Air Force One, along with the family dog Bo.

The extra costs related to Mrs. Obama’s trip include the flight on a specially designed military aircraft she took instead of Air Force One, as well as any extra staff and Secret Service that had to be enlisted to go with her. She would also have had her own motorcade from the airport to her vacation residence. Mrs. Obama’s separate jet travel sends the wrong message on a host of issues, from global warming to the budget deficit to the economy. In Obama’s economy, many people can’t afford to take a vacation at all. Thus far it appears the MSM has not criticized the extra costs of flying two jets or running two motorcades.

This is not the first time Michelle has gone on vacation ahead of the president on the taxpayers’ expense. Last December, she racked up what was likely more than $100,000 in expenses leaving early for their Hawaii vacation.

Footing The Bill

President Obama will lead an entourage of several dozens of his staff to exclusive Martha’s Vineyard island at a cost of millions to taxpayers. While technically Obama is paying for his estimated $50,000 a week rental of the 28-acre beachfront, Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark, dozens of U.S. Secret Service agents, communications officials, top aides, drivers, and U.S. Coast Guard personnel with him will be covered by taxpayers. His 11-day stay will require the Coast Guard to keep ships floating near Obama’s vacation home, a presidential helicopter, and a jet at the ready, and security agents on 24-hour duty. Armored SUVs dubbed “war wagons” have been flown in to carry the presidential family around the island.

Obama’s vacation comes at an awkward time because of the bad economy, and surveys show that a growing number of Americans can’t afford even small vacations.
