A 35-year-old man allegedly committed multiple shootings on Sunday in Tucson, Arizona, with five people shot, and two or three children missing, the Associated Press reported Monday.

A 20-year-old ambulance driver was allegedly shot in the head by the suspect around 3:45 pm, and was in critical condition, according to the AP. A 21-year-old woman in the passenger’s seat was shot in the chest and arm but is now in stable.

The suspect reportedly then began a separate attack, shooting at firefighters and neighbors during an active house fire nearby, according to the AP. One neighbor died after being shot in the head. A firefighter was shot in the arm and another neighbor was almost shot in the head.

“This is a highly tragic, really horrific incident, with many unknowns,” Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus said, according to AP.

The suspect reportedly drove his SUV into a responding police officer’s vehicle and opened fire before the cop found the suspect a couple of blocks away, according to the AP. The officer was not injured and shot the suspect, critically wounding him.

A “badly burned” body was recovered inside the burned home, and “two or three” children who reportedly lived there are missing, Magnus said, according to the AP.

Officials are looking to locate the children with the ongoing investigation. The motive for the multiple attacks is still unclear, according to the AP.
