President Biden Delivers Remarks on Plan to Force Vaccination on Federal Employees and Contractors – 9/9/21

In a not-quite prime-time address to the nation, President Biden will announce that he is signing an executive order to force vaccination on all federal employees and contractors. It has also been reported that he plans to mandate strict COVID surveillance and testing in schools.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Thursday that his plan also includes more requirements for private-sector employees, but did not explain exactly what those requirements would be.

“He wants to lay out the steps we’re taking to build on what we did over the summer: more requirements for federal workers, for private-sector employees as well,” Psaki said. “More testing to ensure we know who has COVID and who might spread it.”

The plan has six goals:

  • Vaccinating the Unvaccinated
  • Furthering Protection for the Vaccinated
  • Keeping Schools Safely Open
  • Increasing Testing and Requiring Masking
  • Protecting Our Economic Recovery
  • Improving Care for Those with COVID-19

Officially, the White House calls it his “plan to stop the delta variant and boost COVID-19 vaccinations.” Of course, forcing all government employees and contractors to get vaccinated will boost the numbers, whether they like it or not.

The briefing is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
