Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao Announces Major Infrastructure Investments for Texas

Secretary Chao underscores the benefits of the USMCA trade agreement for the American worker

DALLAS – Today, U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao visited Dallas to announce $495 million in airport infrastructure grants to 327 airports in 49 states.  During her visit at Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport, Secretary Chao unveiled that more than $57.1 million of that funding will make infrastructure improvements at eight airports in Texas, helping make the state’s economy more competitive.

“This significant investment at eight Texas airports will fund construction and rehabilitation projects that will help maintain high levels of safety in U.S. aviation,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.

After announcing new airport infrastructure funding to Texas airports, Secretary Chao called President Donald J. Trump’s United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) a big win for the United States’ economy.

“It is a bi-partisan agreement that delivers a win for America’s farmers, ranchers, businesses, and workers,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.

The USMCA is projected to generate an estimated $34 billion in new automotive manufacturing investments and 76,000 automobile jobs in the United States in five years.

Under Secretary Chao’s leadership, the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) is focused on delivering infrastructure investments on behalf of the American people to support the United States’ robust economy.
