A New York police officer and a bystander jumped onto the subway tracks at a station in the Bronx to save a man who had fallen and lost consciousness, according to an NYPD tweet.

The 60-year-old man from Queens got dizzy and fell onto the tracks at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the New York Post.

Transit District 12 officer Ludin Lopez saved the man who was “completely out of it,” the New York Post reported. The man was conscious by the time he was taken to the hospital.

“We just did what we were there to do, which is to help and serve the public,” said Lopez. “We were doing a station inspection. It was just right place right time.”

The train arrived moments after the cop’s partner and bystanders on the platform pulled the man to safety.

In the video tweeted by the NYPD, a woman is heard yelling “Hurry up!” moments before all three got back onto the platform and the train pulls into the station.

Bystanders cheered when the man was safe, which Lopez described as a “good feeling,” the New York Post reported. “It just made me feel like this is what I came here to do and I felt very fulfilled by that.”
