Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday that the state does not need additional ventilators “right now.”

In a sudden change from his pleas for ventilators for New York coronavirus patients, Cuomo told members of the press during a Monday coronavirus press conference that “we don’t need any additional ventilators right now.”

“There is no hospital that needs ventilators that doesn’t have ventilators, there is no hospital that needs PPE (personal protective equipment) that doesn’t have it in the state system,” Cuomo said, the New York Times reports.

“Have we saved everyone,” he asked. “No. But have we lost anyone because we didn’t have a bed or we didn’t have a ventilator, or we didn’t have health care staff? No.”

“Everyone has what they need,” he continued. “There is no one who said I’m out of ventilators, and I have a critical need, who hasn’t gotten one.”

The New York governor added that his state has proactively moved “thousands and thousands of ventilators” to wherever they are needed throughout New York, the Times reports.

Cuomo also dispelled a rumor that those who have died from coronavirus will be buried in an unspecified park.

“I have heard a lot of wild rumors but I have not heard anything about the city burying people in parks,” he said.
