Vinegar is particularly beneficial in such a water body in that; it will help kill microbes in the water feature. You should consider using a cup or two of white apple cider vinegar (filtered) for the best results. As an added advantage apple cider vinegar is all-natural, hence no need to worry about harsh chemicals.

3. Clean the Fountain Pump

Adding white vinegar in the fountain may help kill microbes and clean it up. Making it a habit of cleaning the water pump regularly helps get rid of the layer of grime common in most pumps. All you need to do is turn the fountain off, clean the pump and any associated parts, then fix them back together. Doing this should give you several months of service.
