Progressive Elites who were “Part of the Crime”: The Gift that Keeps on Giving

Democrats have missed what I consider a big opportunity.  They passed over Alexandria Ocasio Cortez [AOC] for the top Democratic spot on the Oversight Committee.  It felt like an obvious chance to apply some of the lessons we learned from the November election, right?  Instead, Democrats passed over one of the youngest most media savvy members of Congress for a key leadership public role.

Former Joe Biden Press Secretary, now MSNBC Host, Jen Psaki, 12/28/24

AOC is not the future of the Democrat Party. … Her legislative record is what?  How many laws has she passed?  [Democrats] have figured out that [they] … used to have solid ideas, down the middle … [but we just had] a president who was unfit.  The coverup, the people calling the shots, were progressives.  That’s what ruined the country. … [We can’t have] people who were part of the crime telling you what was wrong. Psaki and the other guys … promoted an unfit Joe Biden.  Now [they’re] trying to [tell] Democrats what’s wrong with the Party.  No, you are part of the problem … [W]hile Biden was wandering around [lost] … the AOC’s and the [progressive] types … [told] us he was “sharp as a tack” and “no one could keep up with him.”  That’s why you lost the election.  You lied to the American people.  DEI, unqualified people, were making the decisions and America said “No.”  Period!

Former professional wrestler, now regular participant on Fox News’ The Five, Tyrus, 12/28/24

Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs … [and] because people are working 60-80 hours a week and can barely feed their kids.

[R]ight now we have this no-holds-barred, Wild West hyper-capitalism … profit at any cost.  Capitalism has not always existed in the world, and will not always exist in the world.  When this country started, we were not a capitalist [nation], …

                                    AOC, PBS Firing Line, 7/13/18

People often say, how are you gonna pay for [Bernie Sanders’ “Medicare for All”].  I find the question so puzzling … [Y]ou just pay for it.

AOC’s response to Jorge Ramos’ question how one is supposed to pay for her dream of “Medicare for All”, 11/6/18

The [progressive] Bernie Sanders-Elizabeth Warren faction of the Democratic Party, with defund the police … and biological males in women’s sports … had a lot of people in the working class flee the Democrat Party. …  The Democrat Party’s the one in trouble. I don’t know how they recover.  They’ve lost their base.  Union guys and gals have left … [T]he Democratic Party is seen … as college professors and woke scolds. …  [They] have badly misread … the attitude of the country.   President Trump took advantage of that, as well he should.  … MAGA is the Republican Party.

Former major Trump critic, Mitt Romney (Sen. UT), 12/16/24

If the progressive elites who have led the Democrat party into its 2024 electoral disaster (being thrashed again by somebody they said cannot win), having learned nothing from their electoral losses, cannot see what has just happened to their Party and why it happened, one might turn to a 6 ft 7 in. 400-pound former professional wrestler “unburdened by what has been” in the progressive’s woke ideology, Tyrus, for a modicum of common sense.   After having just been thrashed by Trump more soundly even than in 2016, progressive Democrat elitists like Jen Psaki (a paradigm of “white female privilege” if ever there was one), who sanctimoniously led Democrats like sheep to their latest thrashing, are lecturing Democrats what they must do to return to success.  Not surprisingly, for people blinded by a woke ideology memorized at elitist universities, their recipe is an even more extreme version of the same woke ideology that has just so dramatically failed.

Psaki’s recommendation for the top Democratic spot on the Oversight Committee is not someone who actually has experience (but is, unfortunately, the wrong color and gender), but, rather, someone from the progressive “squad” that once, despite an Economics B.A. from BU, stated that unemployment is low under Trump because “everyone” has two jobs.  Is it really necessary to explain to AOC that a person with two jobs does not count as two people working or can we now assume a 9th grade understanding of basic economics?

And how does AOC know that capitalism will not always exist in the US?  Did Karl Marx tell her?  And where did she learn that the US did not begin as a capitalist nation?  Although this is a long story not suitable for slogans (that’s the point), certain forms of capitalism were well underway when the United States was created in 1776.

Psaki’s endorsement of AOC is an endorsement by a propagandist of a propagandist, not an endorsement of genuine accomplishment or knowledge, and also an endorsement of the false view that the problem with the 2024 Democrats is a messaging problem.  On the contrary, the problem with the progressives who have been instructing poor old Joe what to do is clearly that the peasants reject the Democrats looney “progressive” policies.  AOC’s puzzlement that there is a problem paying for “Medicare for All” because “one just pays for it” is reminiscent of the magical thinking of children who ask their father for a dollar to buy a candy bar and it just miraculously appears out of his pocket.  It comes from daddy!

Psaki, the daughter of privilege, raised by a psychiatrist mother and a real estate developer in Connecticut’s wealthy “Gold Coast”, Stamford Connecticut, now lives in one of the richest counties in America, Arlington Virginia, once voted the safest community in the United States with black and Hispanic populations well below the national average.  It cannot be expected that, “unburdened by” the crime and poverty “that has been” unleashed on the peasants by her Biden-Harris administration, she would have a realistic appraisal of what the Democrats need to do to return to winning ways.  And why should she?  Her 5-million-dollar contract pushing leftist propaganda on MSNBC will insulate her from the pain felt by ordinary Americans not born privileged to indulge in magical thinking.

That is why, on election night 2024, after Trump’s victory was announced, she made a bitter statement, including numerous demonstrably false or misleading claims about Trump, that he incited a violent insurrection on Jan. 6th, 2020, that he has bragged about eliminating women’s bodily autonomy, that he has promised to govern as an authoritarian like no prior president and so on.  One would think that “progressive” Democrats would have given up on the transparently fake propaganda because, given the size of Trump’s recent landslide, winning all 7 swing states and the popular vote, it clearly hasn’t worked.  Unfortunately, so full of themselves and their undergraduate leftist “theories,” they have literally forgotten how to do anything else.  How about formulating a coherent policy that benefits ordinary Americans, the people, the voters, the peasants, not yourselves and the Democrat Party?

The “progressive” Democrats are truly the gift that keeps on giving.  One might think it might not be a good idea to point this out because they might change their ways.  However, there is little danger in doing so because it seems clear that these people are literally incapable of learning.

  1. Psaki’s well paid drivel is highlighted in the article. AOC despite being an economics major does not know that one person with two part-time jobs is still only one employed person. Prof. McDonough’s article is very clearly written and sensible.

  2. I am sorry, but Psaki’s fake, dyed, ginger mop looks like Shrek’s wife in her “before” pix. Get a stylist, Jen. I wouldn’t pick on you if she didn’t have the money; can’t get past the ridiculous look long enough to hear a word of your apparently more ridiculous commentary. It’s like listening to Carrot-top.
