New Year’s Resolutions Will Not Be Enough In 2025

In 2019, extensive research was conducted by Strava — a social network for athletes — and it was found that approximately 80% of people who made New Year’s resolutions have tapped out by the second week of January. Making deductions from the available 800 million user-logged activities in that year, Strava even went on to predict that the second Friday of January was the fateful day when the motivations of most quitters begin to decline. The main areas of focus for resolutions involve exercise, eating habits, and weight loss. Quitter’s Day is held on the second Friday in January. This year, it falls on January 10. These tidbits of trivial info were from the site Nationatoday.com. Fortunately, they were not from some $10 million experiment funded with U.S. tax dollars. That money went to the shrimp on the treadmill. There is a reason I wrote this preface.

New Year’s resolutions are useless, but what we need in 2025 from every Republican, conservative or moderate, is not a resolution that will be history in ten days but a commitment that will have true staying power. We are excited, almost giddy, with the enthusiasm and determination shown by President-elect Donald Trump during the transition since his election. We turn on the news daily to see what out-of-the-box idea he is floating on that day. Are we taking Canada for our 51st state? Are we taking back the Panama Canal? Are we buying Greenland? Schumer is pledging every facet of the judiciary for God knows, he cannot get anything done legislatively. I have begun to think Trump is not floating random thoughts but trolling the Democrats, who are in total disarray and pledging to use everything but the military to prevent the fruition of Trump’s agenda. It is really quite humorous as the Democrats cannot decide if Trump is unhinged or being manipulated by Musk and Ramaswamy. He has them off guard, and that is a perfect place for them.

We need a commitment to stay the course, remain united, and give Trump the support to get his administration out of the gates quickly and give us the most successful first 100 days he promised. We do not need battles in the House to replace Speaker Mike Johnson, regardless of his actions on the continuing resolution to stave off a government shutdown. There will be disagreements within the party, but not every case needs to lead to a coupe of the Speaker. Johnson has the demeanor and courage to do a job nobody else on the right side of the aisle wants. Leave him alone and move on.

We need to call, write, and fax our support of Trump’s nominees to our Senators, regardless of their Party. We need to flood their inboxes to drive home the fact that we wanted Trump and his team, period. We need to drown out the noise from the left, including the media, with our chorus of support on our social media and websites. Exercise, diet, and weight are all good causes, but this year, we need to put them on the back burner and make this country great again on the front burner and crank up the heat.
