I have no respect for women who voted for Trump. I think so poorly of them. The reason why. I don’t think you’re a single-issue voter. I just think you’re dumb. I think you’re fucking dumb.
Ana Kasparian of the “progressive” show The Young Turks, election night 2016, reacting to the large numbers of women who had voted for Donald Trump.
After Trump … was elected in 2016, the us-vs-them mentality immediately took shape. Anyone who refused to “resist Trump” was seen as a threat to the country. I was fully on board … It felt righteous at first. [Now] … I [see] that the only thing accomplished by resisting Trump was less understanding and more division among Americans. … I became less knowledgeable … I saw Republican voters as an evil monolith, a big mistake. … Not only did I suddenly see the flawed thinking of some on the left, I also witnessed their cruelty and hypocrisy in real time. These terrible traits I had associated solely with my political opponents were obviously not exclusive to their tribe. I was stupid for ever thinking that.
Ana Kasparian now, “Independent and Unaligned,” Sept. 30, 2024
Recently, many iconic members of the Left, for example, longtime “liberal” feminist Naomi Wolf, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., (son of the assassinated Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of the assassinated John F. Kennedy), and Tulsi Gabbard (former Democrat Party rising star, “woman of color” and presidential candidate in 2020), and now Ana Kasparian, co-host with Cenk Uygur of the “progressive” show, The Young Turks.
On election night 2016 Kasparian said some very harsh words about women, who had voted for Trump, calling them “fucking stupid”. That was then. Now she is willing to defend Trump from the silly Democrat “News”-media storyline that he is a fascist:
Fascism requires a militarized citizenry, conquest/imperialism, elimination of our governing bodies (like Congress) and the notion that anyone who isn’t part of a master race should be *massacred*. [Trump] passed criminal justice reform and personally pardoned black inmates who were serving life sentences for drug crimes who Obama was unwilling to pardon. But I’m the ‘f***ing stupid’ one?
When attacked for this, she replied: “How do you explain more minorities supporting him now than ever before? Are they fascist too?” Imagine that! Kasparian, who has a MA in Political Science from California State University Northridge, actually believes one must take concepts, like that of a fascist, seriously (like a political science student), and not throw them around like insults between 9th graders! No wonder she’s now having trouble with the Left.
This does not mean Kasparian has become a conservative or a Trump supporter, but it does mean that she has stopped repeating leftist riddles from out of the Cracker Jacks box and begun taking a more nuanced view at the things called “facts”. It is illuminating to examine the reasons Kasparian gives for her evolution:
My evolution started in 2022 when I was sexually assaulted by a homeless man in my neighbourhood as I was walking my dog. That horrible experience alone didn’t change me politically, but the treatment I received from the far left and some progressives after sharing the story did.
Talking to Jillian Michaels she is a bit more explicit about the assault. When she was walking her dog, a homeless man just grabbed her from behind and began “humping” her. It is important, however, that it was not this assault per se that began her evolution. It is not an instance of the adage that “a liberal is just a conservative that hasn’t been mugged yet”. It was “the treatment [Kasparian] received from the far left and some progressives after sharing the story.” That is, when she related her experience to the Left, she was accused “of stigmatizing my unhoused neighbors. Others accused me of feeding into racist tropes because they assumed that my attacker was black. But I had never even disclosed the man’s race. He was [in fact] white.“
Kasparian’s leftist comrades were cruelly not interested in Kasparian (the individual person). They were interested only in protecting “THE NARRATIVE,” that there are “unhoused people” who live on the street (who often poop and urinate on it and throw used needles on it), that is, insulating “THE NARRATIVE” from the facts Kasparian related to them.
Her leftist comrades also exposed who is the real racist here. For they assumed that if Kasparian was attacked by a homeless person, he must be black. Leftists are obsessed with “systematic racism” because their own minds, after years of study, are systematically racist.
Recall the similar experience related by Naomi Wolf that began her departure from the Left. During the Covid pandemic, Wolf noticed stories about women’s fertility being impaired by Covid vaccines and suggested that people should “look into” it. Unfortunately, the Left had their narrative. If one doesn’t support the vaccines, one is killing people. Ergo, one is not allowed to question the vaccines. Since Wolf did that, she was cancelled, even by many alleged “friends”. Wolf had not even stated a thesis that the vaccines damage women’s fertility. She merely asked a question about THE NARRATIVE and that is forbidden.
It is obvious that when people try to stop other people from asking questions, it is because they don’t want the answers. That is something that Socrates (5th century B.C. Athens, the world’s first democracy) when he paid with his life for asking some very frightened people “moral” questions they did not want to answer.
In his dialogue titled the Gorgias (named after a 5th century B.C. sophist), Plato’s character Socrates argues that it is better to lose an argument than to win one because when one loses an argument one learns something new. And if one wants to solve difficult social problems one must be willing to learn something new. If, however, one already knows everything, if, that is, one already has “THE NARRATIVE,” whether this be Marxism, Maoism, DEI, “Systematic Racism” or Patriarchal Theory, etc., then one doesn’t need to learn anything new. In fact, learning something new threatens THE NARRATIVE! One doesn’t need or want to know the race of Kasparian’s attacker because knowing it may undermine THE (all important) NARRATIVE that gives one’s leftist life meaning.
Kasparian’s problem with the Left is that she has realized that if one really wants to solve social problems, one must tap the intelligence of as many different kinds of people as possible. That has traditionally been the American way, which is why America is so much better solving social problems that most other countries. The average monthly income in Africa is about 769 dollars/month. The average income of an American is about 7,900 US dollars/ month (10 times more). The Left would throw all this away for the sake of THE NARRATIVE.
Kasparian’s problem with the Left is that she has realized what one must begin to do if one actually wants to solve the social problems whereas the Left is more interested in exploiting the problems than in solving them. Ask Marx!
As a reward for her new more tolerant perspective, for wanting to get at the truth, the Left has called Kasparian a lot of names, a racist, a right winger, etc. Typical!
