New Democrat Campaign Strategy: Nothingness
The media gets nothing from Kamala Harris. That’s mostly on us.
Washington Post, Sept. 3, 2024
DAVID MUIR: I want to begin with the issue voters repeatedly say is their number 1 issue, the economy and cost of living …. VP Harris … Do you believe Americans are better off than they were four years ago?
VP HARRIS: I was raised as a middle-class kid. And I am the only person on this stage who has a plan that is about lifting up the middle class and working people of America. I believe in the ambition, the aspirations, the dreams of the American people. That is why I imagine and have actually a plan to build what I call an opportunity economy. Because here’s the thing. We know that we have a shortage of homes and housing, and the cost of housing is too expensive … My mother raised my sister and me but there was a woman who helped raise us. We call her our second mother. She was a small business owner. I love our small businesses. … My opponent, on the other hand, …

It’s complicated, right? We’re a country of 330 million people, … Is the economy good or bad? It totally depends! One could say, ‘She didn’t give a clear, direct answer.’ That’s okay, because we are not talking about clear or direct issues.
Stephanie Ruhle’s excuse for Kamala Harris not answering Ruhle’s own questions, Sept. 30, 2024
[Harris] doesn’t do interviews. She doesn’t answer [questions]. So, she sat for an interview … on MSNBC. She said ‘I will answer your hardball questions.’ There were not-hardball questions, but I still expected not them to be rubbing her feet,

72 days: Kamala Harris has yet to do formal press conference since emerging as Democratic nominee
Foxnews, Oct. 1, 2020
Despite some short press interactions and off-the-record conversations with reporters …, Harris has largely kept the media at bay. … Liberal commentator Angela Rye … [stated] that Harris is likely engaging with journalists behind the scenes [and] while Harris may not [do] on-camera interviews, she is still having important off-air conversations. … [Harris] has received positive media coverage [in] her campaign efforts against former President Trump.
The Economic Times, Aug. 24, 2024
Harris and Walz are giving fewer interviews than any candidates in modern history. Vice-president and running mate accused of hiding from press as Republican rivals chalk up ten times [emphasis added] as many appearances
The Telegraph, Sept. 19, 2024
Back in the old days, when we still had grown-ups in both Parties who actually cared about the country, and, therefore, believed that presidential candidates had a responsibility to answer tough questions about the economy, immigration, crime, and national security, etc., not just talk about skin colour, gender, or sexual preference or show that they can pull off a decent joyful acting performance.
No one made excuses for John Kennedy because he was young and Roman Catholic. No one made excuses for Jimmy Carter because he was a peanut farmer governor of a small southern state. Certainly, no one made excuses for Donald Trump because he was a businessman with no political experience. On the contrary, Trump was savaged by the DNC for this. No “journalist” said that it was “okay” that Trump said something wrong because “we’re not talking about clear or direct issues.” They regularly misrepresent what he says.
This changed in 2020. Since Joe Biden was the uninspiring bland machine politician who ran several dramatically failed presidential campaigns, the Democrat “News”-media Colluders (or DNC) realized that Biden, already suffering from cognitive decline, sometimes not even knowing what state he was in, could not be put in front of the public to answer questions. Accordingly, the DNC used the Covid virus that his son Hunter’s paymasters in China conveniently released on the world as an excuse to hide in his basement and keep any interaction with the public to a minimum. This left if to what passes for our “news” media to “campaign” for him and lead an onslaught of false or misleading attacks on Trump.
Since the DNC managed to drag a declining Biden over the finish line in 2020, and since they have another incompetent candidate in 2024, they are following the same script in 2024. The fact that they only replaced Biden late in the election year for his obvious cognitive decline is used as an excuse keep a clueless Harris from the public to run out the clock.
Since, however, Harris does have to appear before the public sometimes, at least so the peasants know she’s still breathing, the DNC only puts her out in carefully controlled or rigged events in friendly settings. Since she had to debate, she and her two tag-team partners at what’s left of ABC “News” attacked Trump while protecting her from any real scrutiny.
Muir began by giving her an opportunity to defend her record on the economy, but instead of answering she talked about herself, her mother, her second mother who ran a small business, and how she loves small businesses, and then, of course, pivoting to attack Trump. But she had not been asked about her childhood. She had not been asked for fluff or for an attack on Trump. She gave NOTHING to answer the question. And, astonishingly, referring to the housing shortage, she undermined the Biden-Harris administration’s management of the economy over the past 3.7 years. The closest she came to a real policy was talking about an “opportunity economy” but without any details that is just wishful thinking. Even in this rigged event, however, she could not give any real answers and the peasants noticed. The DNC knows Harris cannot defend the Biden-Harris record. The same is true of Walz, who is harder to find than the dreaded Chupacabra. Accordingly, Harris did not get the usual bump from her tag-team performance.
Instead of real answers one gets a lot of fluff, personal stories, talk of skin colour, gender, victimhood, and, of course, attacks on Trump. Unfortunately, Harris’ talk of her “second mother” or love of small businesses or her attacks on Trump tell us nothing about how she will revive the economy (that she and Biden destroyed), seal the southern border or deal with rising crime or national security.
Harris owes these answers to the voters but has not given them. This demand is non-negotiable. The US president must possess multiple skills, including management skills, in widely different areas to solve American’s problems. They must have the toughness to bear the enormous responsibility of being the leader of the free world and the courage to stand up to Iran, Russa and China so that we don’t all get blown to smithereens in WWIII due to a careless wishful thinking.
Unfortunately, the DNC now treats presidential elections like a popularity contest, as if one is electing the 9th grade prom queen whose job is look pretty and giggle about yellow school busses. This nothingness might seem funny now, but it is, unfortunately, an excellent way to end the experiment in self-governance that is, or was, the United States of America.
