Maine/New Hampshire Reps Don’t Protect Women
Nancy Mace (R-SC) introduced H.R. 7909-Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act in April. The summary of the bill:
This bill establishes that domestic violence crimes and sex offenses shall be grounds for making a non-U.S. national (alien under federal law) inadmissible and deportable.
The bill applies to any non-U.S. national who has admitted to or is convicted of acts constituting the essential elements of a crime of domestic violence or a sex offense and includes conspiracy to commit a sex offense. (Under current law, convictions for certain crimes, including crimes of moral turpitude, are grounds for inadmissibility and deportability.)
In a nutshell, this bill stipulates that any illegal alien, a person who has broken our laws to be in this country, who commits or conspires to commit domestic violence against a woman, will be subject to deportation.
Under normal times, this would appear to be a bill that would gather unanimous approval from every member of both houses of Congress. These are not normal times, and though the bill passed the House on September 18 on a 266-158 vote, it is incomprehensible that 158 Democrats would vote NAY on a bill to protect women from illegals.
My first reaction was that our male Representatives, Pappas and Golden, had voted against the bill, but both Jared Golden (D-ME) and Chris Pappas (D-NH) voted YEA. Curiosity led me to check our two female Representatives, and I was mortified. Both Annie Kuster (D-NH) and Chellie Pingree (D-ME) voted NAY. These two women abandoned the women they represent and voted in favor of the rights of illegal immigrants who harm our nation’s women. Inexcusable and incomprehensible.
So, what is the motivation of these two women? Do they not see the threat these illegals pose to women across this land? Have they not heard the stories of beatings and rapes by these illegals, some of which occurred after these men were released on bail after committing other crimes? Have they not heard of Laken Riley or 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray? These were women in their prime or looking forward to it, but they were snuffed out by evil men who came here with evil in their hearts and minds.
The Democrat Party loves to accuse Republicans of not being empathetic to women because typically pro-life and believe the abortion decision belongs in the states. We believe that women should compete with other women in sports at all levels. We believe that children should keep their body parts and not be subjected to puberty blockers without parental consent. We believe in equal pay for equal work and keeping women safe when they step outside their homes.
How can these women face their constituents and tell them they respect and support the right of every woman to terminate their pregnancy and kill their unborn baby up to the time of birth, but they do not respect them enough to keep them safe? These Representatives need to answer these questions. Kuster is not running, but whoever vies for her seat must be grilled on the tough questions. This bill is an important piece of legislation, and it is now in the Senate. Don’t let it pass through without knowing how your Senators vote to protect women.
