We have responsibility, Terri. We did not have any accountability for what was going on there. And we should have. This is ridiculous. Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with? … I take responsibility for not having … prepared for more.
Nancy Pelosi to Chief of Staff Terri McCullough during Jan.6th riot at the Capitol.
The January 6 Committee, led by Liz Cheney, … withheld testimony from a Secret Service official that former President Trump had pushed for 10,000 National Guard troops to be deployed in DC on January 6th. … The former J6 Select Committee apparently withheld Mr. Ornato’s critical witness testimony from American people because it contradicted their pre-determined narrative [that Trump was at fault]. Ornato’s testimony proves what Mr. Meadows has said all along. President Trump did, in fact, offer 10,000 National Guard troops to secure the U.S. Capitol, which was turned down …
Rep. Barry Loudermilk, State of the Union, Mar. 20, 2024
President [Trump] wants to make sure that you have enough … He is willing to ask for 10,000.’ … [D.C. Democrat Mayor]Bowser declined the offer, asking only for a few hundred National Guard and requiring them to serve in a very limited capacity.
Testimony of White House Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato hidden by Jan. 6th Committee
The storyline concocted by the Democrat “News”-media Colluders (or DNC) to justify their grip on power by gaslighting the peasants and secure an election advantage in 2024 is that evil orange Trump led an “insurrection” on Jan. 6th 2021 to take down the government and remain in power. Unfortunately, these pesky things called “facts” make quite clear that Trump wanted a much stronger National Guard presence at the Capitol that day and that it was Democrats and the D.C. bureaucracy who prevented this (at least until the riot was well underway when it was too late). Lt. Gen. Kellog corroborates Trump’s claims.
It was clear from the beginning to anyone that made an effort to look that the official story of the Jan. 6th “insurrection”, was fishy, not that anyone in the DNC cared to look. Just as the DNC uncritically ran for years with the Trump-Russia collusion hoax that was based on by a fake Russian dossier purchased by Hillary Clinton to frame Trump and cheat the American people out of a fair election, the DNC, including much what passes for our “news” media, just ran, uncritically, with the Democrat’s Jan. 6th storyline. After all, that is their job.
For example, on Jan. 11, 2021, a mere 5 days after the riot, NPR reported that
Capitol Police Chief at the time, [Steve] Sund says he requested assistance six times ahead of and during the attack on the Capitol. Each of those requests was denied or delayed, … [Democrat] Mayor [of D.C.] Muriel Bowser … wanted a light police presence at the Capitol. … Bowser requested, and received, a limited force of 340 from the D.C. National Guard [that] were unarmed [emphasis added]. Their job was to help with traffic flow, not law enforcement, …
Somehow this story, that Capitol Police Chief at the time, Steve Sund, stated that D.C. Mayor Bowser had, for various reasons, wanted a “light … unarmed” police force, not, of course, to protect the Capitol, which, apparently, never occurred to the DNC, but to “help with traffic flow”, disappeared. Where did that story go when the push was on the blame Trump for the riot? It seems to have slipped everybody’s “minds”.
There is, therefore, plenty of evidence that Democrats were primarily responsible for security failures that allowed the Jan. 6th attack on the Capitol to happen but for some mysterious reason the DNC and a few bitter “Republicans” only want to blame Trump. The Democrats and the D.C. establishment certainly do not want to admit their own incompetence and malfeasance and have to blame themselves.
Needless to say, efforts are being made to discount all this pesky evidence. Tom Jocelyn, a senior professional staff member on the January 6th Committee, states that this claim that Trump wanted a much stronger national guard presence on Jan. 6th to protect the Capitol is a conspiracy theory: “More than one year after the committee disbanded, there is still no reason to think Trump ordered the National Guard to be ready on Jan. 6, 2021.” As one has come to expect, Joceyln’s argument depends on the usual DNC playing with words. Jocelyn denies that Trump “ordered” a large National Guard presence. However, that can be true but it also be true that, as Rep. Loudermilk states, Trump “pushed for” and “offered” 10,000 national guard troops or that as Mr. Ornato stated, Trump “asked for” 10,000 troops.
Recall the interview in which NBC’s Kristen Welker badgers Trump why he did not “send” help during the Jan. 6th riot. Trump replies that he “assumed [Pelosi] took care of it.” We now have the tape from that day in which Pelosi admits her “responsibility” for being unprepared. Trump was correct. NBC’s paid propagandist Welker was not.
However, the fact that Welker did not have the Pelosi tape recording before her hit piece does not excuse her from responsibility. For a bit of knowledge of our tripartite system of government, divided into the executive, legislative and judicial branches, combined with a modicum of common sense, should have been sufficient to deter Welker. For, common sense would suggest that in that tripartite system one would not want the security for one branch, e.g., the legislative, be dependent on the actions of a distinct branch, e.g., the executive. Even CNN, in an effort to shield Pelosi from criticism, admits that the security of the Capitol “is the responsibility of the Capitol Police Board, which oversees the US Capitol Police and approves requests for National Guard assistance.” However, Politifact, not exactly a bunch of right-wing Trump supporters, admits that Pelosi bears some responsibility, because:
Capitol security is not solely the responsibility of the House speaker. It is provided by the sergeants-at-arms of the House and Senate and by Capitol Police.
The House sergeant-at-arms reports to the House speaker, or Pelosi at the time of the attack. The Senate sergeant-at-arms reports to Senate majority leader, on Jan. 6, Sen. Mitch McConnell.
[I]n the days before the attack, House sergeant-at-arms Paul Irving resisted calls from Capitol Police to bring in the National Guard for extra security … because of “optics.”
No matter how one slices it, and despite Welker’s latest attempt to convict Trump for an insurrection that never happened, Capitol security on Jan. 6th was not Trump’s responsibility! We now have Pelosi’s tape recording on the day admitting she “takes responsibility”. And that is supported by additional evidence (Ornato’s and Kellog’s testimony, etc.). Case closed!
So, by all means, blame Pelosi and McConnell. But it is now entirely clear, so that even Bill Maher should be able to understand it. This does not excuse those who committed crimes that day, but Trump did not lead any “insurrection” on Jan. 6th.
There, for honest people, goes the fake “Trump insurrection” narrative fabricated by the Democrats and their media poodles. But do not expect it to disappear.
