Knuckleheads Of The Week: AOC And Swalwell – Footloose And Fancy-Free… In Florida

The Blue State Conservative

Our friends on the left should approve of our decision with this week’s top knuckleheads. While normally we pick just one imbecile to recognize, the competition between our two honorees this week was so strong, and the infractions so similar, we ultimately had to spread the wealth. And in so doing, we’ve inadvertently achieved the left’s ultimate goal of equity. One of our winners is a woman – or should we say, ‘a person with a uterus’ – and the other is a man; we think. One is BIPOC (will we be adding an letters to that acronym like we’ve done with LGBTQLMNOP?), while the other is white/Caucasian/oppressor-descendant. We have balance in its purest form.

Winner: AOC and Eric Swalwell head to Ron DeSantis’ Florida for some R&R but leave their masks back in their blue states.

For clarity, there’s nothing wrong with traveling to Florida to recharge one’s batteries and to enjoy the weather. The Sunshine State is beautiful, particularly this time of year. There’s also nothing wrong with going maskless, considering that unless that mask is of the N-95 variety, it’s almost as useless as Kamala Harris. And it’s perfectly fine for one public official to criticize another for their policies on COVID. But it’s highly problematic when someone does all three, virtually simultaneously, and with the utmost hypocrisy.

As the Omicron variant of COVID has spread like wildfire around the country, in red and blue states alike, we might expect to Democrats who have been preaching to us about vaccines, masks, and social-distancing for over a year to practice what they preach. We might think they would stay put in their hell-hole states and lead by example. But such expectations would be ill-advised, as illustrated this week by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and their similarly-timed jaunts to Florida.

AOC has been one of the most vocal supporters of the blue state authoritarian approach to COVID, including school shutdowns, mask mandates, and vaccine passports. She’s also been equally enthusiastic with her attacks on red states and their freedom-loving methodology towards the virus. Yet on Saturday, the estimable AOC was spotted with her boyfriend in a Miami drag bar, naturally, living it up; maskless.

Adding to the inanity, when called out on her duplicity AOC explained, “If Republicans are mad they can’t date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet,” she said. “Ya creepy weirdos.” Ummm, nope… that’s not it. Don’t flatter yourself AOC. You’re being called out not because your critics want to have sex with you, it’s because you’re a total dumb ass.

Later in the week, and not to be outdone, the incomparable Eric Swalwell – best known for chasing female Chinese spies, his on-air flatulence, and one of the worst presidential campaigns ever witnessed – took AOC’s lead and moseyed on down to Dixie; and of course the Democrat was caught going maskless. Let’s not forget how vocal Swalwell has been in his criticism of Republicans for their handling of COVID, stating just last week, “As we end 2021, mired in a deadly pandemic, you should know who has prolonged it. Republican liars. Your vacation cancelled. Your kids back to virtual learning. And back to masks everywhere.” Everywhere except for Florida, and for everyone except for you, right Eric?

On a positive note, such hypocrisy is going to have consequences. The hard left adore these two buffoons, both of whom could be caught maskless and sneezing in a neighborhood nursing home without any backlash. But not political moderates and independents, and certainly not conservatives. They recognize the double standards, and it pisses them off. And ultimately, they will conclude that Democrats such as AOC and Eric Swalwell are knuckleheads.

Honorable Mention #1: Whoopi Goldberg can’t believe she got COVID after worshiping at the altar of leftist lecturing.

On Wednesday, the leftist has-been Whoopi Goldberg appeared, as usual, on The View, but this time from home. Why? Because she has COVID. While updating her audience on her condition, Goldberg marveled, “It was a shock, because I’m triple vaxxed, I haven’t been anywhere, I haven’t done anything. It’s one of those things where you think, I’ve done everything I was supposed to do… Yeah, it doesn’t stop omicron.” Welcome to reality, Whoopi.

Will we see Goldberg and her accomplices on the show backtrack on their promotion of idiocies such as vaccine mandates? Or school shutdowns? Will they finally acknowledge that each of us is responsible for our own risk assessment with COVID and neither our government nor any other entity can control the virus? There’s a better chance of Michael Moore sticking to his New Year’s resolution to shed twenty pounds than to see Whoopi and Crew wise up.

Honorable Mention #2: Virginia Governor Ralph Northam points the fingers at drivers for his mishandling of a brutal winter storm.

A nasty storm on Monday hit the mid-Atlantic states and wreaked havoc on roadways, particularly in Virginia, where outgoing Democratic Governor Ralph Northam utterly botched the situation. Thousands of motorists were stranded for hours, some even sleeping in their freezing cars overnight on I-95. And what was the root cause of the problem according to Northam? “We gave warnings, and people need to pay attention to these warnings, and the less people that are on the highways when these storms hit, the better.” Ahhh… it’s the drivers’ fault, don’t you see.

It couldn’t be because Northam didn’t ensure there were enough plows clearing the snow. And it couldn’t be because he didn’t get out in front of the situation with the adequate salting of the highways. Nope, the drivers are to blame. Maybe we shouldn’t complain, though. Perhaps we should be grateful that Northam didn’t call out Climate Change as the culprit.
