Trump Outlines America First Foreign Policy at United Nations

President Donald Trump delivered a speech to the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday in which he outlined an America First Foreign Policy.

Trump outlined the Administration’s foreign policy of principled realism, a strategy of acting in America’s national interest and in accordance with American values.

“America First means America will put its citizens, its values, and its concerns, first, like all nations should.”

The president also talked about America’s interaction with the other nations of the world.

“Our foreign policy calls for a direct, robust, and meaningful engagement with the world. It is American leadership based on vital security interests that we share with our allies all across the globe.”

President Trump said he wants to see a world that is more stable and prosperous, with countries that better maintain their own sovereignty.

o America First does not mean America alone.

o All countries must contribute in the fight against global terrorism and other shared threats.

o Nations that care for their citizens likewise have a rational interest in shared cooperation.

The president also used the speech to take a strong stance against three nations that present a threat to the world and/or their own people.

The United States has led the UN Security Council to adopt resolutions in September, August and June that strengthened and expanded sanctions against North Korea, working to pressure the country to abandon its nuclear ambitions. The Trump Administration has asked all nations to do more to stop North Koreas nuclear program.

The president also mentioned the Iranian nuclear agreement that has been described as impossible to verify. He has ordered a review of the Iran nuclear deal to examine whether it is in the best interest of the United States and its allies.

Venezuela finished out his revision of Bush’s ‘axis of evil’ as the president condemned socialism, communism, tryanny, oppression,  and Nicolas Maduro in a call to the United Nations to help to return Democracy to the destitute country.
