Polls Indicate Support For Biden Immigration Policies Are Collapsing

As the Biden Administration continues to remain silent, the immigration crisis at the border is increasing. The surge in border apprehensions is at a 15-year high, with some U.S. temporary holding facilities reaching well over 1000% capacity.

Fortunately, Americans are beginning to understand the political and humanitarian consequences perpetuated by the new executive. A recent poll, conducted by Politico and Morning Consult, revealed a steep reversal in public support for President Biden’s immigration policies.

In January, the same poll determined 57% of Americans supported a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens. In two-months’ time, that number has plummeted to 43%. Even more disheartening for Democrats, constituent voter support has dropped 15%.

According to NumbersUSA, President Biden’s policies include releasing illegal aliens captured at the border, with no “Notice to Appear,” and without notifying immigration courts. As White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, continues to deflect, and the President remains veiled behind an ancillary press, Americans are catching on.

In his most recent statement, President Biden said, “I can say quite clearly, don’t come over. What we’re in the process of getting set up, and it’s not going to take a whole long time, is to be able to apply for asylum in place. So, don’t leave your town or city or community.”

In the meantime, the Politico/Morning Consult poll found that 84% of the country feels that illegal immigration is a problem, with only 23% supporting the idea that it was improving under President Biden.

Other Polls Support Politico’s Findings

A recent Senate Opportunity Fund Survey found that 59% of respondents felt President Biden was to blame, bolstering the significance of the Politico/Morning Consult poll.

The same survey found that 71% of the public want the Biden Admin to toughen its stance on illegal immigration, with 19% opposed.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll, released on March 19, found that 45% of Americans opposed President Biden’s immigration stance, while 41% supported him. A thousand U.S. respondents were polled, with a 456/374 Democrat to Republican pool.

The Yahoo News/YouGov poll found that 62% of 1,556 surveyed adults feel that the illegal immigration situation is a crisis. NPR/Marist published their own survey on Tuesday with a 53% disapproval of the Biden Administration’s policy, with Independents showing a drastic drop in approval numbers.

Despite continued obfuscation at border facilities and the President’s cross-country tour on his administration’s successful 1.9 trillion stimulus package, Mr. Biden’s immigration stance is tanking in popularity.

Border Wall Support Is Increasing

Politico’s recent poll is not the only survey indicating a sharp reversal in public opinion. Post-Trump America thinks the border wall was a good idea after all.

Despite the majority of polls indicating American opposition to the border wall during former President Trump’s tenure, the Biden Administration has quickly changed the public’s attitude.

The Senate Opportunity Fund survey found that 53% support completing the wall, with 38% against. This is a 180-degree turn from 55% opposition in a 2019 poll conducted by the Chicago Council on Foreign Affairs.

Once again, Democrat voters are the focal point, with 63% opposed to the wall in the Senate Opportunity Fund Survey, a decline from 85% opposition in the 2019 Chicago Council poll.

In October of last year, 386 of 738 miles of border wall construction was completed. According to the Department of Homeland Security, in areas where the wall was constructed or rebuilt, there was a drop in smuggling, illegal entries, and illegal drugs.

As President Biden’s policies percolate amongst Americans, inevitable comparisons to the previous administration are inevitable.

On January 21, President Biden sent out an order to cease border wall construction—in what is probably a violation of executive authority, with funds already allocated by Congress—and three months later, the public is beginning to have a change of heart.

With the construction freeze costing American taxpayers $6 million per day, according to a recent article at NumbersUSA, public opinion is not likely to improve.

Biden Administration In A State Of Denial

Seven days after President Biden appointed Vice President Kamala Harris to oversee the border situation, Harris has remained silent. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki still refuses to label it as a crisis, despite a previous slip on March 18.

Now, the White House is walking back the President’s initial claims concerning the VP’s appointment. It would be an understatement to say that there is an air of confusion in D.C. As the horrific conditions at the border continue to leak out—despite a Herculean effort to keep the press out—public opinion is souring.

Wednesday, the Border Patrol released a shocking video of smugglers dumping children over the border fence and abandoning them. According to El Paso Security Chief Patrol Agent, Gloria Chavez, the children were abandoned miles away from any residence.

If the crisis at the border continues, poll numbers are likely to continue reflecting a poor opinion of President Biden’s immigration management. Fawning press coverage may delay public response, but videos released by the Border Patrol and continued efforts to peek inside holding facilities will eventually produce results and reactions. Most of them are not going to reflect well on a Presidency just three months into its first term.
