NFL Coach Believes that EVERYONE Should Stand for the National Anthem

With comments that are certain to enrage the militant defenders of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, a Super Bowl winning coach has made a stunning admission.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll acknowledged during an interview that while he understood that some players may have issues with expressing support to the country by standing up during the playing of the national anthem ,that he preferred that everyone would stand.

This probably isn’t going to sit well with defensive lineman Michael Bennett who decided that he would not put the team before his own selfishness while he remained glued to the bench during Sunday’s preseason opener.

Bennett has just called for white players to join in the disrespect of the country by pitching in with some help with dissing the Star-Spangled Banner before games – the dude is clueless.

According to USA Today “Seahawks’ Pete Carroll: I support Michael Bennett, but ‘we should all stand’ for anthem”:

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday he supports Michael Bennett after the defensive end chose to sit during the national anthem before Sunday’s game in Los Angeles, but noted that he believes everyone should stand when The Star-Spangled Banner is played.

Bennett opted to remain seated Sunday, one day after Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch, his former Seahawks teammate, did the same for his team’s preseason opener. Bennett also has been a vocal supporter of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who remains unsigned after deciding last year not to stand for the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial injustice.

“I support the heck out of (Bennett’s) concerns and his issues and all that,” Carroll said of Bennett. “When it comes to it, I love our country, and I think we should all stand when the flag is represented. His heart is in the right place — he’s going to do great work well after the time he’s with us — and it’s easy for me to support him in his issues. But I think we should all be standing up when we’re playing the national anthem.”

In discussing players’ expressions of individuality, Carroll said that he “couldn’t support that more.” But he added the needs of the organization also had to be taken into consideration.

What an outlandish idea – that NFL players should consider the needs of the organization that is signing their paychecks instead of comparing them to slave owners as some of the more radical pro-Kaepernick voices have done.

Who knows where this is going to head from here. Carroll is really a liberal guy but the Seahawks are full of smack-talking, loudmouthed malcontents who have been loudly supportive of Kaepernick.

There will certainly be those who will be quick to attack Carroll as a racist, after all, the Seahawks brought Kaepernick in for an extensive visit to kick his tires and talk to him before deciding to pass and sign the immoral Austin Davis instead.

Could Carroll have just laid the groundwork for a team mutiny?
