Texas Border Officers Seize $358K in Methamphetamine at Los Indios Bridge

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Los Indios International Bridge seized $358,908 in methamphetamine as the border crisis continues.

“This narcotics seizure is important and reflects the steadfast commitment of our frontline CBP officers to keep our borders secure and protect our communities,” said Port Director Tater Ortiz, Brownsville Port of Entry.

On Monday, Jan. 3, CBP officers working at the Los Indios International Bridge encountered a 22-year-old male United States citizen from Los Fresnos, Texas, who applied for entry into the United States driving a 2003 Ford.  The vehicle was referred to CBP secondary for further examination after a primary inspection.  In secondary, with the aid of a non-intrusive imaging system (NII), CBP officers discovered 28 packages hidden within the 2003 Ford.  CBP officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 17.94 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.

The estimated street value of the narcotics from the seizure is approximately $358,908.

CBP officers seized narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
