Divided We Stand: Echoing Calls To Secede From The Union
Yes, you read that correctly. Your eyes are not deceiving you. Divided We Stand.
In less than a week since this nation re-elected Barack Obama, there are calls from numerous States to secede from The United States of America. We are no longer a United Nation. We are very much a Divided Nation. Many are standing together, calling for a peaceful divide.
The famous declaration for unity that you are familiar with has been attributed to Aesop’s fables, as well as John Dickinson’s Revolutionary War song, “The Liberty Song”, which was was published first in the Boston Gazette in 1768.
However, it was Patrick Henry that made the historic exclamation in what was to be his last public speech:
“Let us trust God, and our better judgment to set us right hereafter. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us not split into factions which must destroy that union upon which our existence hangs.”
Patrick Henry’s declaration came at a very pivotal point in America’s history. It was March 1799, and Mr. Henry was “denouncing The Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions”, which argued that the two states “had the right and the duty to declare unconstitutional any acts of Congress not authorized by The Constitution”.
This speech took such a toll on Patrick Henry that after the speech his “near lifeless body” was carried offstage and into the nearest tavern. He died just two months later.
We have now reached another pivotal point in this nation’s history.
In the November 6 election, the divide between the candidates was a little more than 3 million votes. Barack Obama received 61,910,594 votes, and Mitt Romney received 58,654,765 votes. When you look at the total number of votes cast, it is almost a clear cut down the middle. We are most definitely a divided nation. We can no longer stand together, when we are so obviously divided over so many issues. We have reached a breaking point that threatens to be anything but peaceful if things are not handled in a way in which every voice is heard and considered.
Citizens in Louisiana are now petitioning the White House to “Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America”. The petition was created the day after the election, and has nearly 8,000 signatures in just 5 days.
It appears that this petition from Louisiana was the first of many to have been submitted to the “We The People” site on the official White House website. The site claims to be “Your Voice In OUR Government”. The question remains whether or not the Government will hear the many voices being raised. It is highly doubtful, as they have turned their noses up in arrogance towards We The People numerous times before.
It’s not just the state of Louisiana, the list of State Petitions calling to peacefully “withdraw from the United States of America” is growing by the day.
Country singer Charlie Daniel’s is suggesting that “the South” secede from The Union; however, there are Northern States that are not so happy with the government, and are also calling to leave the Union. At the time of this article’s posting, the states with open petitions are the following:
Alabama
Colorado
Florida
Georgia
Indiana
Kentucky
Mississippi
Montana
New Jersey
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
Oregon
Texas
In Texas, Peter Morrison, “a high ranking” Republican County Treasurer, made the declaration for The Lone Star State to secede, stating:
“Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government?”
The winds of change are coming. The echoing calls to seperate are growing louder and stronger.
Barack Obama claimed in both victory speeches that we are not “a collection of Red States and Blue States, but we are The United States”. These words are empty and mean nothing coming from a man who has done so much to divide this nation. The people are not happy. We are no longer united. We The People are standing, asking to peacefully divide from the albatross that is Barack Obama. If the request is not considered, it very well may come as a demand, which will not be so peaceful.
Comparing Barrack Huesein Obama to an albatross is absolutely foolish. An albatross was a ships good luck until some damnable fool went and killed it, then it became the ship/fool’s curse. Obama has been nobody’s good luck save for the lazy and corrupt of this once great nation. In the past it was stated that something given has no value. This adage holds true even today,so is it truely any wonder that those who would work for what they have, and want would desire to distance themselves from this failure of a president?

the logistical chaos that secession would create is beyond description. the economic destruction would be unparalleled. if Louisiana were to sucede from the nation, for example, it would essentially be ensuring itself a place as a 3rd world country. There is no way that economy could be self-sufficient in a way that would be desirable for anybody to live there, and it would actually make it MORE at the mercy of the United States federal government than it currently is. it would probably be poorer and more destitute, and more tumultuous, than your average central american country. the vast majority of americans are more used to their various entitlements than you probably think, and the result of a 100% cut across the board of all medicare, medicaid, social security, military, public works, public school, and all other funding would result in utter economic chaos for the average individual living in that state. not to mention the biggest problem: whichever state that secedes will need a new currency. this currency will be worth NOTHING against the dollar, unfortunately. the amount of money in each persons bank account will immediately go from, for example, $30,000 to 30,000 of whatever Louisiana would now be using, which would be worth much less. everyone would lose all their savings overnight, and in advance of the succession there would be a massive bank run and flow of cash OUT of the state. there is nothing about secession that is even remotely feasible. republicans, as much as democrats, have been earmarking federal funding bills for their states for generations now, and cutting that overnight in secession would have enormous consequences.
You are using a static analysis. The productive people of America and businesses would FLOCK to LA or any other state that secedes. Better to have a chance of success that to stay with the U.S. and share its now inescapable fate.

This is so scary and probably necessary. I am one of the 50% that is paying the bills for the other 50%.
I feel – no I know – the feeling our ancestors had with “taxation without representation”. It seems it needs to come to blows and if our country is to fall to its knees – as Obama is riding us to that point – that the line will have to be drawn – we look at our brothers and sisters – and say “You can tread on me no longer”. I hope it does not come to spilling blood – but that just might happen. Only a fool cannot see that is where we are heading.
Therefore, while Obama parties with his cronies and celebrities, takes his vacations, plays golf and continues to not bother with security meetings and – continue to not talk to the other half of this nation – “We the people” are considering leaving the corrupt deceptive cronies in D.C. behind.
This is historic! It can certainly come to a great rebel cause – we have four more years of being frightened, divided, and ANGRY! A LOT CAN HAPPEN IN FOUR YEARS. Certainly not the HOPE, but certainly the CHANGE!

I’m sorry but that is super idealistic… I agree that EVENTUALLY a state like LA could have a stable independent economy, but it would only be after a period of total chaos, and it would be a gamble. I assume you are one of those “productive americans” who has more than enough money to pay for all your own health care when you retire, but I hate to break it to you but a lot of the older conservatives who will stay in, or flock to, LA will be americans on government handouts like medicare and medicaid. if the government in LA isn’t going to offer such benefits (which I’m assuming it won’t…), then nobody is going to flocking there any time soon, or at least not until the cost of healthcare has been lowered, which isn’t happening overnight. also, btw, Louisiana currently receives the 4th most federal funding per capita of any state, the current average wage is 41st in the nation, so it’s not exactly a “booming” economy
Yes and we get the least amount of oil royalities of any state with the feds taking all. I hate big brother as I realize that 16.5 Trillion is crazy. Yes I can support myself and I am not rich but I do not need a Federal goverment to support me. I am 62 and have worked since I was 12. I do not need someone to tell me when to sleep, when to eat, and how much I should eat. I learned responsibility at 12 and self discipline by my father. I need the goverment to get the hell out of my LIFE.

Will Obama use NDAA To Arrest State Representatives and State Militias that support Secession?
Could Obama use NDAA To Arrest Secessionists on the Premise members are Militants and Belligerents that pose a threat to National Security?
Recently the Obama administration stated to Federal Judge Katherine Forest that under (NDAA) The National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 the President had authorization to lock up belligerents indefinitely. That they (were justified) to lock belligerents up indefinitely—because cases involving belligerents directly-aligned with militants against the good of America—warrants such punishment.) Pres. Obama could use NDAA provisions to order U.S. Military Forces to round up without evidence, millions of Americans including Secessionists and Militias by alleging they are belligerents or a threat to National Security. Many observers believe Obama intends to extend NDAA to imprison U.S. Citizens in Indefinite Detention not involved with or associated with enemy forces.
Hitler included similar provisions in his fascist (Discriminatory Decrees signed February 28, 1933). Almost immediately after the German Parliament passed Hitler’s laws, the Reich Government ordered the arrest of German Citizens and confiscated their guns without probable cause or evidence; delegated powers to German Police and other authorities to arrest anyone Nazi authorities claimed attempted or incited public unrest: arrested among others were outspoken Germans, writers, journalists, peaceful protestors and artists. After World War II the East German Secret Police (Stasi) used the threat of Indefinite Detention to forcibly recruit thousands of informants.
The U.S. 2012 NDAA legislation Obama signed 12-31-11 is similar to Hitler’s 1933 fascist laws the SS and Gestapo used to target persons in Germany for arrest, imprisonment and execution without probable cause; and confiscate millions of dollars of property. Hitler used his laws to suspend Parliament and the Supreme Court insuring his laws could not be rescinded.
During the Obama Administration’s recent request for a (stay) to stop U.S. District Judge Katherine Forrest blocking enforcement of vague NDAA provisions, the Obama Administration—never clarified what constitutes a (belligerent); or militant; or what belligerent activities (directly aligned with a militant) to order a belligerent’s arrest or indefinite detention; or what is against the good of America. Under vague provisions of NDAA, the President could accuse anyone of being (directly aligned with militants by way of any political or other association; activity, statement, writing or communication with an individual or group government deemed (militant) to arrest and indefinitely detain Americans. Writers, journalists, Americans that disagree with or question U.S. Government or its allies—may under NDAA be subject to arrest and indefinite detention.
NDAA 2012, like Hitler’s 1933 Discriminatory Decrees enforces censorship; refers to the Patriot Act e.g. warrant-less searches of private property and forfeiture of property from persons not charged with crime. Provisions in NDAA 2012 keep the door open for corrupt U.S. police; government agents and provocateurs which there are many, to falsify reports and statements to target any American, group or organization for arrest, indefinite detention, complete disappearance; civil asset forfeiture of their property.
You may have noted NDAA referred to the USA Patriot Act. The Patriot Act lends itself to Government / police corruption; the Federal Government may use secret witnesses and informants to cause arrests and civil asset forfeiture of Americans’ property. Witness(s) and informants may be paid up to 50% of assets forfeited. Federal Government under 18USC may use a mere preponderance of civil evidence, little more than hearsay to Civilly Forfeit Private Property. Under the Patriot Act innocent property owners may be barred by government knowing the evidence federal government uses to forfeit their property.
Sections of NDAA 2012 are so broad, it appears U.S. Government or the President could (retroactively) deem an American’s past 1st Amendment activities prior to passage of 2012 NDAA—supported hostilities, terrorism or (Belligerents) to order the arrest and Indefinite Detention of any U.S. Citizen, writer, group or organization.
Under NDAA 2012 it should be expected that indefinitely detained U.S. Citizens not involved in terrorism or hostile activities, not given Miranda Warnings when interrogated, not allowed legal counsel or habeas corpus may be prosecuted for non-terrorist (ordinary crimes) because of their (alleged admissions) while held in Indefinite Detention.
You are correct in your comments. Obama realizes that the majority of Americans have become uneducated in what has happened in world history. They do not understand basic economics but are convinced that his social equality is the right thing. It is socialism at its’ best and we saw how that worked in the USSR and other countries. My concern is that if he does not get a majority in 2014 in the house he will move to become King Obama and with his ability leed the blind majority it may happen. We need a leader to get behind to push the removal of Louisiana from the union either by negociation of force as I believe as we move forward, others will follow. Texans are bitting at the bit. The longer Obama stays in office the more powerfull and dangerous he becomes. Who is that leader ?

While many may see this as a knee jerk reaction, it’s a clear demonstration of the civil unrest growing. Unless storm winds blow all the polution out to sea, this may well end in Chaos. It’s difficult to picutre our streets filled with citizens as they are in Egypt…We do have the same basic elements that they have, Corruption, Discontent, staggering government control & a few with courage to stand up…soooooo ???
