Symbolic Gestures Are Not Solutions

There are two types of leaders. One sees real problems, prioritizes their impact, pulls together experts to assess, and then pushes the timeline to solve the issue and move on. The other type of leader looks around at the world crumbling, identifies a symbol of the past like a marble statue, calls a press conference to announce its removal, and their followers cheer the brave act as real progress.
At some point, an honest historian will chronicle the accomplishments of President Donald Trump. The man was a businessman who hit the pause button on his personal life to apply his expertise to solving our country’s problems. He has a huge ego and brash personality that offended and enraged half the country, but he solved more real problems in one term than most Presidents could hope to accomplish in two. He was hated and vilified in Washington and still managed to put the country in a better place at home and abroad.
On the other end of the spectrum is Bill DeBlasio. He has watched over the spiraling decline of New York. New York was once considered the hub of the universe, the most fantastic city on Earth. It has become a cesspool under the poor management of Mayor DeBlasio. He has been behind the curve during the Pandemic. His wife has been unable to account for millions her organization had received and wasted. He is a lame duck, and after being the worst mayor in the history of New York City, he is making noise about running for Governor. He appeased the woke by defunding the Police only to watch crime escalate out of control. So what is he to do to set things right? He has the statue of Thomas Jefferson removed from city hall. That will satisfy the masses. It is Thomas Jefferson, the man who authored the Declaration of Independence, the third President of the United States, a visionary, and a slave owner who is to blame. He is the reason for all the ills in this country, and we must erase him from our history. This foolish gesture is the action that solves nothing but makes headlines.
Divert, blame, and come up with a token gesture to give the perception of being in control. This useless act is what leadership is to Democrats. Bill DeBlasio is a giant of a man physically, but he is tiny in stature. He is a reactionary, not a visionary, and his reactions are not the right solutions for the people of New York. His failed short run for President and now his talk of Governor is proof he is more about feeding his ego than serving the people.

Democrats like DeBlasio, Andrew Cuomo, Gavin Newsom, and Gretchen Whitmer have shown they are more about bluster and control than solving problems for a better future. We see just the opposite from Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott. They are working tirelessly for the people of their states. They are the people we need to look to to get this country back on track. Hopefully, the next three years of Biden, Harris, and their team of incompetents will not drag us too far down but will open the eyes of the media and some Democrats that we need to change course. The approval numbers indicate that this may be happening.

  2. I keep hoping there won’t be another three years of the demolition crew of Biden, Harris and and their team of incompetents. We don’t deserve such bad luck. How that could be remedied is beyond me but impeachment comes to mind. Biden has been less than upstanding and needs to go.
