Biden’s Popularity Is Plummeting In A Key Voting Bloc Dems Can’t Afford To Lose
President Joe Biden’s approval rating within a key Democratic voting bloc plummeted to a new low in a Harvard Kennedy School poll released Monday.
Biden’s job approval rating among Americans aged 18-29 fell to 41%, the poll found, compared to 59% in spring 2021 and 46% in fall 2021. Of respondents who voted in 2020, 62% reported voting for Biden.
While 52% of respondents approved of Biden’s handling of the pandemic, many viewed him as an ineffective president in general, according to the poll.
Turnout among young voters is expected to match 2018’s record-breaking turnout, according to the poll.
The decline in approval ratings for Biden among youths matches a decline across the board in support for the president. Four other April polls found Biden’s approval rating between 33%-43%, prompting CNN reporters to note that Biden was “in a lot of trouble.”
Approval for Biden has also plummeted among other heavily-Democratic voting blocs, including black voters and Hispanics.
Inflation appears to be driving some of the disillusionment with Biden, with only 34% of respondents approving of Biden’s handling of the economy in the Harvard poll. An April Americans for Prosperity poll found 61% of Americans blamed Biden for price increases and 75% reported that inflation had impacted their spending decisions.
Biden, meanwhile, has blamed outside factors for soaring inflation.
I know that families are still struggling with higher prices. I grew up in a family where if the price of gas went up, we felt it.
Let’s be absolutely clear about why prices are high right now: COVID and Vladimir Putin.

“Let’s be absolutely clear about why prices are high right now: COVID and Vladimir Putin,” Biden wrote.
The Harvard poll surveyed 2,513 young Americans March 9-22 with a margin of error of 2.89%.
