South Texas Border Patrol Captures 136 Illegal Aliens

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents arrested 136 migrants unlawfully present in the United States in four separate events across the Rio Grande Valley.

On March 7, Fort Brown Border Patrol Station agents observed a group of 86 migrants walking north from the Rio Grande in Brownsville, Texas. The group included 31 family members and 55 single adults. The majority of the migrants, 75, are from Nicaragua, and the rest are from other Central American countries and Colombia.

Hours earlier, the Rio Grande City Police Department (RGC PD) received information regarding two apartments in Rio Grande City, Texas, being used to harbor migrants. RGV agents alongside RGC PD officers approached both apartments and discovered a total of 12 migrants and one caretaker. Agents determined the migrants are nationals from Mexico, Honduras, and Peru illegally present in the United States. All migrants were arrested by Border Patrol agents and the caretaker, a Mexican national, was turned over to RGC PD.

That same day, RGV agents along with Hidalgo County Constable Precinct 1, discovered five undocumented migrants being harbored inside a Weslaco, Texas, residence. The migrants were identified as citizens from El Salvador and Mexico illegally present in the United States.

On March 8, RGV agents received information of a residence in Sullivan City, Texas, possible harboring migrants. Agents responded to the location and encountered 33 migrants unlawfully present in the United States and transported them to a Border Patrol station. No caretaker was identified.
