Increase job opportunities: Fire illegals and deport them

For persons authorized to be in the United States, their labor participation rate can be increased and their unemployment rate can be decreased by enforcing the mandatory use of the Form I-9 and making E-Verify mandatory. Here is some basic information:

Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, is the key element of E-Verify’s Internet-based employment eligibility verification. E-Verify compares information the employer enters from Form I-9 to records available to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This electronic verification confirms an employee’s identity and eligibility to work in the United States.

Although E-Verify uses information from Form I-9, there are some important differences between Form I-9 and E-Verify requirements.

Form I-9 E-Verify
Is mandatory Is voluntary for most businesses
Does not require a Social Security number Requires a Social Security number*
Does not require a photo on identity documents (List B) Requires a photo on identity documents (List B)
Must be used to reverify expired employment authorization MAY NOT be used to reverify expired employment authorization

We must make E-Verify mandatory for employers. I urge you, via your First Amendment right to petition, to demand that Congress make E-Verify mandatory. Please note that “U.S. law requires companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the United States – either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization. This diverse workforce contributes greatly to the vibrancy and strength of our economy, but that same strength also attracts unauthorized employment.” The government is aware of the problem.

Moreover, another problem is that our government does not enforce the mandatory use of the Form I-9, a form that provides very little protection against fraud; and, that E-Verify is not mandatory. E-Verify is an effective guard against the employment of illegal aliens but employers can ignore it.

It is conservatively reported that there about 11,000,000 illegal aliens in the United States. Of that number, 41% live in California and Texas, i.e., 3,019,000 and 1,470,000, respectively. For a very detailed data map, including your county, visit HERE.

I argue that employed illegal aliens, estimated to number 3-to-4 million, suppress wages and displace American workers. Eliminating them from the workforce will allow market forces to work better.

We have all heard that old saw that illegals do work that Americans won’t do. That is simply not true. What is true, is that the American workforce should not be expected to compete with third world workers, who, by the way, are really not so cheap when we consider all the benefits that they soak up.

It is in the national interest to bar illegal aliens from jobs in the USA. We are not responsible for the ills of other countries. Fire illegals and deport them.

  1. Sorry, everify does not work. The meat packing plants ate full of illegals that passed everify because they are using a “valid” stolen ssn. Everify only checks if they are valid, not actually the correct person using them. I have personally seen it.

    1. The only way it will work is if employees are checked against a database that includes fingerprints. National id with fingerprints, ssn with fingerprints. Otherwise its just checking to see if the ssn is legit, not if the correct person is using it.

      1. Thanks for your comments. Are you interested in helping to improve the process? Maybe we can work this issue out with congress. I am willing to try. Are you?

  2. John, You’re on the right track, but E-Verify will treat only one of the ‘symptoms and not the disease that currently plaues our Nation. And the, only if enforced….Current Immigration LAWS and Congressional approved change remain UNenforced rendering them useless.

Then President G.W. Bush’s Administration imposed large fines on any employer found to have illegal or non-documented employees. “Imposed” is not the same as “Enforced”. To date, there has been just one small independent fast food owner in Arizona that had a fine of $24,000 levied. Collected ?? Afterwards there were ‘apprehended’ illegal workers in packing plants, farm labor and other unskilled labor areas and there has been no record of fines to owners, nor paid by them. We all saw the “round ups, saw them placed on buses for deportation. Deported ???

It is a FELONY CRIME to falsely use any federal form to indicate citizenship/right to work here. It is punishable bey a fine and/or prison time. This includes social security cards. which are available for a price in any city.

E-verify is a valuable component to the Immigration problem, but cannot stand alone. We need to enforce our laws and lock the barn door from the inside.
