Week In Review: Three Must-Know Stories (Vol. 7)

California proves that voting needs to be harder, Mark Milley admits to treason, and Covid sophistication is everywhere.

1. The failed recall effort for California’s gubernatorial seat isn’t a surprise, but it does highlight the fact that too many stupid people have access to immense power.

• The great thing about democracy is that everyone has a voice. For the same reason, that’s what makes democracy miserable.
• As in 2020’s presidential election, the California recall once more highlights the limitations of one person, one vote. Basically, I’ve lost all faith in most people to do the intelligent or right thing. For that reason, it’s time voting became difficult, not easier. Having a history of work and paying taxes, being able to pass a history and civics test, and being free of a criminal record seem like a decent starting point. I am open to stricter qualifications. It should be a non-starter that there are no mailed ballots and no early voting. You get one day – election day.
• The affirmation of the disastrous Newsom administration shocked few who follow politics, but it nonetheless came as a disheartening realization. California is done for, and it seems only a matter of time before the country follows suit.
• Gavin Newsom is the governor that shut down public schools but continued sending his own children to in-person private school. No one cared. Gavin Newsom is the governor that closed bars and restaurants and instituted mask mandates in public but dined at fancy establishments while following zero protocols. No one cared. How did he make San Francisco better as mayor? How has he made California better as governor? No one cares.
• Not long after he won, Newsom indicated that he might be interested in drastic, draconian measures against his populace. Who could blame him? They said “yes” to his leadership and provided a carte blanche on overreaching edicts. As always, my thinking is that I hope the people that voted for him suffer the most. What else will wake people up? Seriously, how much tyranny and incompetence can one person suffer before saying enough is enough? I want every Newsom voter to be miserable. Then, when they’re ready to come to our team, I just hope it isn’t too late.
• I’ll end with this. Thank you to Larry Elder for being bold enough to step up to the plate when his community needed him. He was already a legend for his decades of thoughtful speaking and writing, and this simply elevates him further. I hope he doesn’t rule out future campaigns. Regardless, he is an American hero and epitomizes Teddy Roosevelt’s “man in the arena.” He did what few dare to – take on the corrupt establishment. It is still amazing that his ideas don’t resonate with everyone, especially blacks.

2. Mark Milley disgraces his military oath and uniform, according to another Swamp book.

• Most conservative pundits are saying Milley’s behavior is treasonous while most leftist pundits are ignoring the story. Sounds about right. Of course, we all know how this would play out if General Mike Flynn, or someone of his political leanings, were involved.
• It seems that whatever lines exist between legitimate back-channeling and openly coup-ish behavior were crossed. The fact that Milley has CCP connections is to be expected; however, the fact that Milley would provide advance notice of an attack to the Chinese while also suggesting he might try thwarting it at home altogether is a matter entirely different.
• Laura Ingraham asked a question that makes a lot of sense to me. Obvious political realities aside, how come President Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian prime minister rose to impeachable offense but Milley’s phone call does not?
• Likewise, Mark Levin also made an astute observation. It takes months to put out a book, which means Woodward and Costa were once again sitting on bombshell information. How come they didn’t let us know immediately? As with Woodward’s last Trump book, the timing of this release conveniently coincides with his next release date. Woodward can now do all the rounds and try selling his book.
• What I haven’t heard asked yet (which doesn’t mean it wasn’t) is what would Milley’s actions have meant for the lives of American soldiers and civilians? Imagine an attack were planned and Milley alerted the CCP to it – would the prepared Chinese response be more lethal? It seems likely. Mark Milley, as a result of his woke brain rot, justified killing fellow Americans in the name of Orange Man Bad. A court-martial doesn’t go far enough for this scumbag. Is the firing squad or a hanging still part of the military code?

3. Despite dire warnings of surges, the NFL kicked off with packed stadiums, the MET Gala carried on, and the vaccination status of our elected and unelected bureaucracy is exempt from the Biden mandate. There is a lot of sophistication to go around.

• Week 1 of the NFL got underway last week. That means 16 stadiums full of at least 60,000 people each were screaming for their teams without masks. Between attendees, workers, coaches, players, media, and everyone else, on the conservative end this all means that over 12 million people were in close proximity, some in roofed stadiums. Worth noting, Joe Biden gave his “we’re losing patience” speech the same day the NFL officially began (Thursday night’s game between Tampa and Dallas). You can’t have it both ways; either Covid is scary or it’s not.
• Of course, college football and baseball have been enjoying packed stadiums for weeks. The NFL is following suit. No word yet on a mass influx of cases.
• In response to Covid allegedly being scary still, some NFL teams decided to embrace vaccine passports. The Buffalo Bills will begin demanding proof-of-shot papers or otherwise be barred entrance. Now, because Covid is only scary when rules are in effect, that means there won’t be transmissions at the next home game, only when the rules are phased in for Weeks 3 and 4. This is the Lori Lightfoot and Muriel Bowser approach to science; let Lollapalooza and Dave Chapelle happen…then ban everything.
• Does no one remember that an entire NFL season was played without a vaccine? That happened. Fans were limited in number, but they were also there. I think we’ve reached a point where people are more afraid today than they were last summer, despite being vaccinated. Anecdotally, I have friends that I would travel out of state to visit in 2020, and now suddenly they are asking for my vaccination status before making plans again. It’s insane.
• The epitome of all Covid sophistication – even more so than Barack’s bash – took place at the MET Gala. In a stunning optical revelation, the cultural and political elites were photographed without mouth-hijabs while the lowly serving class had to hide their faces the entire evening. Taking place in New York, it is likely that everyone on staff was vaccinated, by choice, force, or otherwise, but it doesn’t matter. The message is clear: If you’re sophisticated, you don’t need to follow the rules. I only hope that the waitstaff, who I assume lean left, took the night as a wake-up call and realized AOC doesn’t represent them at all. She only represents herself and her brand.
• The VMAs also took place. I don’t care who or what they celebrate, but let’s add that to the list of celebrities that are better than everyone else and get to hold big events.
• Not making enough news is the fact that basically the entire Washington, D.C federal workforce is exempt from the greater-than-100-workers mandate from Team Biden. When pressed about Congress not having a vaccine mandate of its own, Nancy Pelosi unironically told a reporter that it is not her business to know the status of her colleagues or their staff.
• From Nancy’s lips to God’ ears, here is Pelosi’s explanation in full: “So—so here is the thing. We are—we cannot require someone to be vaccinated. That’s just not what we can do. It is a matter of privacy to know who is or who isn’t…I can’t go to the Capitol Physician and say, ‘Give me the names of people who aren’t vaccinated, so I can go encourage them or make it known to others to encourage them to be vaccinated.’ So we can’t—we can’t do that.” But she can do all of that with the lowly plebes?
• Joe Biden also allowed unionized postal employees to avoid the mandate. Will the same exemption play out for Amazon, UPS, and FedEx? I’d say doubtful, but Amazon is also too important and sophisticated to be dragged down by unconstitutional executive orders. I’ll sit on the fence for this one
• Democrats and the fear-induced public want it both ways: They want us to be afraid of Covid so that we succumb to their total control – but they also want to get on with life. It can’t be both. What matters most is selfishness and power, that’s it. This is not about science. Never has been, never will be. Your vaccinated, masked, face-shielded, glove-wearing neighbor does not care about your life; she only cares about her own. She wants her life to be as uninterrupted as possible. If you die in two years from a cytokine storm, so what?
