60 Minutes’ Story on Gov. Ron DeSantis Is A Pathetic and Failed Attempt at ‘Journalisming’
The 2024 election is just around the corner and the Left are nervous. What’s more, they’re terrified of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. This was never more apparent than CBS’s 60 Minutes’ pathetic attempt at journalisming in their story last night and the supposed “scandals” surrounding Florida’s vaccine program. 60 Minutes’ attempt to make it seem like DeSantis had been paid off to allow Publix to host early pop-up vaccination sites, the truth is significantly more mundane. Last night’s story could be summarized in three words: “Facts be damned!”
Sunday, 60 Minutes opted to avoid covering ongoing political scandals, such as the crisis at the border, to make up one of its own. They accused DeSantis of funneling the state’s coronavirus vaccines to rich, white communities and giving a contract to distribute the vaccines to Publix only because the grocery chain donated to DeSantis’ action committee.
Funneling money and helping white people, they say.
Publix is the most ubiquitous grocery chain in Florida, so it was therefore the most logical company to partner with to distribute the vaccine. The Federalist reported Monday that Publix’s donations totaled less than 3 percent of what DeSantis got in political contributions for February alone. Simply put, they had the systems and infrastructure in place to be successful. DeSantis has said publicly that Publix first raised its hand to help while CVS and Walgreens were focusing on long-term care missions.
What 60 Minutes was attempting to link is the donations Publix has made to DeSantis’ PAC. Therefore, this must mean corruption is obvious, right? Should you need to be hit in the head with a hammer that says “obvious” this was 60 Minutes’ play last night. It’s what they wanted you to believe.

Ultimately, CBS took the information and painted it as nefarious. Which begs the question why didn’t 60 Minutes mention Publix has also donated to Democrats, too? This one way accusation is appalling. Much-needed context would prove beneficial if the aim is to share accurate and non-biased information. Essentially, 60 Minutes connected two dots but clearly and obviously skipped over the many in between. This isn’t surprising. As damning facts emerge against Andrew Cuomo and Gavin Newsom’s handling of COVID, the national media needs to distract the public’s attention. And given his popularity among Republicans, DeSantis is a top target.
Of course, they also deceptively edited DeSantis’ defense to all this nonsense so nothing should surprise us anymore. No matter, the former head of Florida’s Emergency Management organization, a Democrat who campaigned for Gore and Obama, debunked 60 Minutes’ framing and assertions.

The entire “report” 60 Minutes made was false and worthless. There is no attempt an honest journalism, but rather, a deranged, hysterical admission that they’re terrified of a Ron DeSantis 2024 candidacy and presidency. Personally, I don’t believe the legacy media has been this scared, this early, of a possible presidential candidate. Ron DeSantis has the fighter mentality and push back ability of Donald Trump, but coupled with intelligent counterpoints, obvious discernment of the issues at hand, and a charismatic leader that people can get behind and certainly appreciate.
The media was convinced Donald Trump would be easy to beat and were stunned that he won. The late Arizona Senator John McCain was loved until he challenged former President Barack Obama. Once this transpired, they flipped the switch and backed Obama.
However, we are nearly three years out from the 2024 presidential campaign and the media are already showing their cards. I will constantly argue and never waiver in my analysis that this will only strengthen DeSantis’ candidacy. The GOP are equally enthralled and strengthened when someone owns legacy media reporters, and DeSantis does this with the proficiency and deft of an Olympic athlete at peak performance. This won’t be the last time 60 Minutes get’s ripped a new one by DeSantis.
You can expect him to rip 60 Minutes a new one after this spectacle. You can also expect the unfair derision he’s receiving to become a rallying cry.
Throughout President Donald Trump’s time in office, the press quickly became adversarial after 8 years of kissing Obama’s butt. However, they have arrived at the point they are now which can be described as the communications arm or press secretary of the Democratic Party. 60 Minutes was one of the few ‘news’ shows that remained somewhat credible and serious. They can now waive that generous compliment out the window, and for what?! To lie about the governor of Florida because they fear what he might do in 2024?
DeSantis isn’t going anywhere but 60 Minutes’ reputation was just thrown into the dumpster fire with the rest of the legacy media. With this blatant disregard for the truth, it’s obvious they are not doing anytime of calculation of long-term effects.
