Conventional wisdom is that the Democrats are going to go ahead with articles for impeachment against President Trump and then vote to impeach him. This is in spite of the fact that their impeachment inquiry, even stacked in their favor, hasn’t yet produced bi-partisan agreement that there are actions worthy of impeachment. Nevertheless, according to the consensus opinion, the Democrats will then vote to impeach the President sending it to trial in the Senate. This is in spite of the fact that there is no hope that the Senate would vote to convict him. Democrats know they won’t be able to remove President Trump from office, yet they hate him so much they will vote to impeach him anyway.
That’s the conventional wisdom. Sure, the Democrats would love to impeach him, but they won’t. It’s not because they can’t remove him, but because actually impeaching Trump would hurt them politically. First, the Republican-controlled Senate would conduct a trial, which unlike the Democrat inquiry, would allow Trump supporters to question witnesses whose stories won’t help Democrats sway public opinion in their favor. A fair Senate trial would likely do exactly the opposite. Also, if the trail goes on long enough it will cut into the campaign season for several Democrats Presidential candidates. Finally, a public Senate trial will almost certainly damage front runner Joe Biden’s chances of representing the Democrats in their efforts to win the 2020 election.
Worse for the Democrats would be outing the “moderate” Democrats in the House as working in lockstep with the progressive party line. Remember they were elected promising to do the best for the country, and not just blindly following policies not popular with their constituents. While they could explain away voting for an “inquiry” to find out the facts, voting to actually impeach based on some pretty weak evidence of wrongdoing could very well see them voted out in 2020. Red and moderate district representatives gave the Democrats the majority in the House in 2018. The Democrat leaders know that they may very well lose the House if these representatives vote to impeach the President.
So what will happen, and what was probably the Democrat leadership’s plan all along, was to use the impeachment inquiry to smear the President hurting his chances to win in 2020, and to appease their base who have wanted Trump impeached even before he was sworn in. They may have hoped they could turn up something that could actually lead to a conviction in the Senate, but they knew that was a long, long shot. Using the inquiry as a free forum to tell everyone how awful the President is placates their progressive base. Letting the red and moderate district Democrats vote not to impeach will give them credibility in their districts as fair-minded Representatives deserving reelection. If that sounds Machiavellian to you, you haven’t been paying attention to what the Democrats have done.
One last caveat to this scenario is that the vote for the impeachment inquiry was 232-196. That would give 15 red or moderate district Democrat Representatives wiggle room to vote against impeachment if they thought it would help their reelection. If the Democrat leadership calculates that impeachment would actually help them win in 2020, they could very well pull the trigger, impeach, and let the cards fall where they may. I can’t see them doing that given the arguments listed above, but I’d be happy to be wrong.
The Democrats will impeach Trump because they can. Politics is about favors and grudges. Democrats have never forgiven Republicans for impeaching Bill “BJ” Clinton. They’ve been after a Republican POTUS scalp ever since. It doesn’t hurt that they hate Trump with the fury of a thousand suns, but impeachment was going to happen regardless. It could have been President Cruz or President Romney. Didn’t matter.
They will impeach the President because they are so arrogant, so steeped into their own lies, they truly believe this President is evil.
They also do not care about the American people, it has been all them all the time. They did not care about taxes or climate change or trade deals, or insurance (Nor did the GOP). It is ALL about them and power and money and graft.
They also think that they have enough of the GOP (Think Romney, Amash, Lee et.al) that will vote “YEA” for the impeachment.
Remember Paul Ryan? Plus truthfully I do not trust Mitch or Lyndsay either. Between the Media smears and the hate and the protests, I think they think they have it in the bag! I think the GOP wants it as well.

The Pelosi, Schumer, Nadler, Schiff pretext of no laws covering impeachment is treasonous, against all Civil Rights! The foremost issue is the fact that every individual congressperson is 2nd oath allegiance bound “…to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic… bear true faith and allegiance… without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion… will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office…” That allegiance is a condition of holding any office, and Ratified Amendment 14 Section 1 …No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens nor… deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny… equal protection of the laws.”; and they’re automatically upon engagement per Section 3 “No person shall… hold any office… having previously taken an oath… …(who) shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the (Constitution), or given aid or comfort to (its) enemies…”! It amends anything to the contrary such as Article 1 and 2 Section 4 (impeachment, especially when impeachment is used to overthrow government and the Constitution (Article 3-3)!
Schiff’s claims of no law regarding Impeachment are treasonous and to the contrary of Article 1 Section 3 “…but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.” (due process of law!) ; and Section 6 “… They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest….“, wherein Schiff/Pelosi used their congressional offices to modify a statute, and used it to claim immunity for Biden… publicly recorded admission that he withheld US funds to Ukraine until that president immediately fired a Ukrainian DOJ who was investigating corruption… to stop investigations in a corrupted company (Bribery) associated with the Biden family… in absolute contempt of Article 1-6 Supreme Law of the Land, ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY NOT-WITH-STANDING (Article 6). They doubled down on that treason with impeachment charges based on the treasonous statute to overthrow the president for investigating the crime Biden admitted to! Those treasonous acts clearly violate Supremacy of presidential duties Article 2 Section 1 president “…will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”; and Section 3 “…he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed…”
House impeachment powers are same as secretive investigatory and grand jury functions, not Senate public judiciary functions. This time The house used their DNC media/press to broadcast and publish every accusation and deposition in total contempt of all due process laws, especially Amendment 5 “No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury… nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law… nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb.”; and Amendment 6 “…all criminal … accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed…confronted with the witnesses against him…Counsel for his defense.”
For 3 years, the DNC progressive democrat House majority, Senate Minority, and every other DNC operative within government has been holding the president to every crime imaginable on nation/word-wide media/press with government facilities and honor of office personally parading accusations of treason, bribery, lying, and scandal after scandal, without ever being able to identify a crime… in total defiance any privileges and immunities guaranteed in Amendment 14-1.
The House impeachment process over the last few days shows the pitiful state of overthrow and progressive communist tyranny the USA is drowning in. Each day begins with treasonous Schiff rants of unending pseudo crimes by Trump, and ends the day filled more accusations by house members and people they subpoenaed, with zero true crimes, followed by another Schiff rant of more crimes against Trump. That damnation finally ends with the same no crimes committed, plus a divided nation that is ready for a war that will destroy the USA. It’s not stopped because Allegiance, the Constitution, and God mean nothing! Trump has the Army & special forces to prevent a blood bath. Egypt did it.
