Report: Trump to Lift Obama Ban on Military Grade Weaponry to Police

When racial rioting broke out in Ferguson, MO back in 2014 after a teenage thug named Mike Brown was killed while trying to get a hold of a police officer’s gun, images of cops with equipment that appeared better suited for the battlefield than the domestic streets shocked many as the media created a heightened state of hysteria.

Events in Ferguson led then President Barack Obama to sign to issue an executive order effectively putting an end to what was known as the 1033 program where surplus military gear was provided to civilian law enforcement agencies.

Bill Clinton signed the program into law back in 1996 but as with everything, Obama saw a way to politicize disarming the police while throwing a sop to militant racial groups like Black Lives Matter.

But now that the left has become increasingly violent and the Democrats continue to refuse to denounce their shock troops, it is being reported that the Trump administration is about to lift the ban implemented by Obama.

According to USA Today “Trump expected to lift ban on military gear to local police forces”:

The Trump administration is preparing to lift a controversial ban on the transfer of some surplus military equipment to police departments whose battlefield-style response to rioting in a St. Louis suburb three years ago prompted a halt to the program.

The new plan, outlined in documents obtained by USA TODAY, would roll back an Obama administration executive order that blocked armored vehicles, large-caliber weapons, ammunition and other heavy equipment from being re-purposed from foreign battlefields to America’s streets.

On Monday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is scheduled to address the annual meeting of the Fraternal Order of Police, the nation’s largest police union, and he may outline the program changes there.

Administration officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The administration’s action would restore “the full scope of a longstanding program for recycling surplus, lifesaving gear from the Department of Defense, along with restoring the full scope of grants used to purchase this type of equipment from other sources,” according to a administration summary of the new program recently circulated to some law enforcement groups.

“Assets that would otherwise be scrapped can be re-purposed to help state, local and tribal law enforcement better protect public safety and reduce crime.”

Whether this is actually the case is unknown at this time, at least until an official announcement is made from the White House. Currently, the removal of the Obama ban is based on another of the now commonplace leaked documents to friendly media sources.

Personally, I have had mixed feelings on the militarization of the police simply because once the state has that kind of force, it would be very easy to crush political dissent and that could mean any voices that are critical of the government.

That being said, we are now living in very dangerous times as the left continues to promote violence as a solution to political disputes and ANTIFA thugs are not only multiplying but actually conducting training on how to fight the police. Civil order is beginning to break down and there is no end in sight.

There is no sign that the Democrats or those in the media who continue to encourage such fascistic conduct by the left are going to appeal for peace in the best interests of America. On the contrary, they will only continue to be instigators because the elections are approaching and they need ANTIFA at polling places to intimidate voters.

On this particular issue, it would be prudent to make sure that law enforcement has every tool available to put down any sort of leftist insurrection and that should include military hardware.
