We used to have these things called elections in which “the people” vote and if the peasants vote for someone the elites don’t want, they accept this and fight again another day. No more! Democrat stalwart Doris Kearns Goodwin informs us of the new rule: If the peasants vote for the other fellow, then, in order to prevent the irrational rabble from electing someone the anointed elites don’t want, the entire country must be “overwhelmingly organized at all levels” so that they “cannot” win. And why does Doris say, not that the country must be organized so that Trump does not win but that it must be organized so that he “cannot” win? Isn’t that what they did in 2020 when “swing states” did not follow their own election laws and Zuckerberg spent $400 million in districts in swing states that mostly elect Democrats. Doesn’t that take the vote out of the hands of the rabble so that they are manipulated to vote as Doris’ wealthy Patrician class wants? Didn’t we used to see that as cheating? And isn’t Doris the Great’s statement that if the Republicans don’t abandon Trump, one must not only defeat Trump but must defeat the Republican Party, a threat?
Further, if, after suffering the devastation wrought on the county by Joe Biden at the southern border, Afghanistan, Ukraine, lawless cities, foreign policy and the economy, the serfs give control back to the Republicans in 2024, are Republicans allowed to “overwhelmingly organize the country at all levels” to defeat Democrats in 2028, 2032, and thereafter, or is that only a privilege of the dreamy faculty lounge favourites?
Joe Scarborough and Mika Brezinski (daughter of Polish-born National Security Advisor in the spectacularly failed Carter administration that gave us Reagan, Zbigniew Brzezinski), hosted Doris to support their view that it takes grace and humility to give a concession speech, something that the abominable Donald Trump cannot do. Joe, who used to pretend to be a Republican, begins by reminding the viewers what a “dark chapter in American history Trump” has created while Mika makes priceless facial expressions to convey the extreme gravity of the situation. In the usual flowery language, the trio agree that we see such extraordinary “goodness, grace, decency, patriotism, and love of country from all those other candidates” who left office graciously that we do not see from Trump.
Joe flatters Doris on her historical significance because she knew so many of those “honourable” people left the scene gracefully when they lost, Goldwater, McGovern, Humphry, Ford, Dole, the first Bush, even Nixon, and, with the usual flowery language, says that in 2000 “we saw into the heart of Al Gore” when “after 5 Republican” SCOTUS Justices “voted against him … he still gave an extraordinary concession speech that helped bring the country together, my God, my God [emphasized], the contrast with this thrice indicted man [Trump], the contrast could not be greater could it Doris?”
Given her cue to agree with Joe, Doris gushes that Joe should show that tape again of all the other gracious losers and, alluding to her own place in history, refers to the time her husband worked with Al Gore on his wonderful concession speech in 2000. Accompanied by “ooo’s and ahhs” from Joe and Mika, Doris states that Trump “represent[s] a deviation from history. … The real battle to be fought here is the battle of public sentiment, the country has to be persuaded that what Trump [did] was wrong.”
However, despite the never-ending media onslaught on Trump, a recent CNN poll reveals that 70% of Republicans believe the 2020 election was unfair and only about 21% of Democrats have “deep confidence” that elections represent the will of the people! Could that have had anything to do with the fact that Hillary and the DNC paid for the fake Russian dossier to cheat the American people out of a fair vote that the FBI somehow managed not to notice, followed by years of “The walls are closing in [on Trump] nonsense by giggling Democrat-media colluders on television, followed by the multiple revelations by Tucker Carlson that the Jan. 6th Committee ran a rigged investigation of the Jan. 6th riots that led people like longtime liberal feminist Naomi Wolf to apologize to conservatives for believing “the farrago of lies” told to her by the “legacy media” about that day? As a result of these, and other Democrat-media hoaxes, the American people are becoming more and more aware that they are constantly fed fabricated narratives by Democrats that have NOTHING to do with reality. Could all this have something to do with the loss of confidence in elections?
The real problem, however, is that none of the comparisons the trio makes have anything to do with Trump. First, the trio never even consider the simplest hypothesis to explain the difference responses from Trump and the “graceful losers,” namely, that Trump actually believed he won and none of their gracious losers did.
Second, did any of their “graceful losers” face an FBI investigation into collusion with Russia funded by the other Party? Did any of their “graceful losers” have 51 former “intelligence” officers falsely suppress claim that a laptop story that would have hurt their election prospects as Russian disinformation? Did any of their “graceful losers” benefit by a massive social media campaign to censor their political opponent in an age when social media is so important? Did any of their graceful losers face never-ending “mainstream media” false stories smearing them? Even Joe Rogan, who endorsed Bernie Sanders, now says that nobody has had as much “coordinated bulls**t thrown at him,” which continues to the present day, as Trump and that he would now vote for Trump over Biden.
Although Joe, Mika and Doris pose as moral paragons, all have credibility issues. Even though a pretty girl was found dead in Joe’s D.C. office, great humanitarian Joe joked on tape with Don Imus that he had a sexual affair with her and had to kill her. “My God, my God, how could you Joe!” Mika is on tape saying that she takes it as “our [the media’s] job to control exactly what people think.” Well thanks for letting us know, comrade, what you, Joe and Doris are doing. Doris, the academic “historian,” has had significant plagiarism problems. Slate magazine said her worst offence was “allowing the plagiarism to remain in future editions of a book after it was brought to her attention.”
The Italian-American philosopher George Santanya said that if one does not study history one is condemned to repeat it. In fact, Santanya’s remark is logically consistent with the view that even those who study history are condemned to repeat it. The ability to learn from history requires more than mere academic skills. Among these are political neutrality, a robust capacity for self-criticism and courage to face up to the unique moment of time in which one exists, none of which tend to be found in comedic media theatre.
