MLB Post Season Monday: Who’s Playing and Where to Watch

Monday’s MLB playoff schedule features three games that could send a team packing and one that is still neck-and-neck in a full afternoon/evening of baseball.

The Houston Astros and New York Yankees both failed to seal the fate of their opponents on Sunday, but they get another chance to do so as they face the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians respectively in Game 4.

Astros @ Red Sox (1:08 PM EDT)

Astros pitching did them in early on Sunday and the up-until-then quiet bats of the Red Sox came alive in a 10-3 win over Houston at Fenway Park taking the series to 2-1 in Houston’s favor.

The Astros will start 14 game winner Charlie Morton (RH, Season ERA 3.62) against Boston’s Rick Porcello (RH, Season ERA 4.65) who had 17 losses during the season. Morton did well in his only outing against Boston this year winning the game in 5 1/3 allowing only 2 runs.

Indians @ New York (7:08 PM EDT)

New York and Cleveland faced-off in a massive pitching battle that, along with a leaping catch by Aaron Judge, kept the game at 0-0 through six innings. In the seventh, Greg Bird went yard to score the only run in the game. It was all the Yankees needed for a win and to avoid a sweep. The series stands at 2-1 Cleveland.

Cleveland will start 17 game winner Trevor Bauer (RH, Season ERA 4.19) against New York’s Luis Severina (RH, Season ERA 2.98) who won 14 of his 20 appearances during the season and blanked the Yankees in his Game 1 appearance holding them to just two hits.

Dodgers @ Diamondbacks (10:08 PM EDT)

The Los Angeles Dodgers are ahead in their NLDS battle with the Arizona Diamondbacks having won 9-5 and 8-5 in the first two games at home. Fans will have to see if Los Angeles can pull off the first clean sweep of the 2017 playoffs.

L.A. plans to hand the ball to Yu Darvish (RH, Season ERA 3.86) for the first time in two weeks. 17 game winner Zack Greinke (RH, Season ERA) will start for the DBacks in his first game facing his former team.

Nationals @ Cubs (4:08 PM EDT)

The Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals have each won a single game in their matchup as Game 3 moves to Chicago’s home turf. The Cubs’ Jose Quintana (LH, Season ERA 4.15) will face Washington’s Max Scherzer  (RH, Season ERA 2.51). Scherzer lost both appearances against the Cubs during the season and Quintana is on a hot streak since joining Chicago winning 7 of 10 starts with a 3.74 ERA.
