Mediocrity: Bar Association Drops LSAT Requirement for Law School in the Name of Diversity
The accrediting council for the American Bar Association (ABA) voted 15-1 to no longer require the administering of the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) for law school applications, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Starting in 2025, the ABA will no longer mandate that law schools require a “valid and reliable admission test” as a part of its application process, after feedback from a public comment period suggested that dropping the testing requirement would increase diversity, according to WSJ. Law schools may still require the test as a part of its admissions process, but the LSAT will no longer be required for accreditation.
The Clinical Legal Education Association, a group focused on promoting justice and diversity within the legal foundation, argued that dropping the LSAT requirement would allow law schools to individually address “the persistent lack of racial diversity” within their institutions, according to the WSJ.
Chancellor of the Southern University Law Center John Pierre said that the institution, a historically black university, would continue to require the LSAT in its admissions process, despite backing the ABA vote, the WSJ reported.
Of 82 law schools surveyed, at least 30 schools said they would still require the LSAT as a part of their admissions process, according to a November Kaplan Inc. survey. Approximately two schools said the chances they continue requiring the test are “unlikely” and 37 schools were yet to decide if they would require the test.
Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, Kristen Theis-Alvarez, told the WSJ that dropping the requirement to increase diversity might actually have reverse effects.
“We believe that removal of the testing requirement could actually increase the very disparities proponents seek to reduce by increasing the influence of bias in the review process,” Theis-Alvarez said according to the WSJ.
The vote comes as Yale Law School pulled out of one of the nation’s largest ranking systems, saying the program is “flawed” because it fails to reward schools which help students who come from “low-income backgrounds.” The law school said the rankings hurt schools who accept students who could not afford tutoring to get better grades.
The ABA did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

Is med school next?? You don’t need an undergrad to enter Med School? We’re dumbing down the entire country in the name of diversity.
I guess what that says is that “diverse” people just can’t cut it with the normal standards so they have to be dropped for the diverse to gain entry. What quality of performance can be expected from their graduates? I’m keeping my already trained and experienced GP because the same “stuff” is going on in medical schools and there your very life is at stake.
Why bother at all with anything? They’re only going to learn how to set all criminals free and jail all conservatives.
The Democratic mantra of Diversity (Anti-white policies), Equity (Equal Outcomes/Socialism), and Inclusion (Trans rights) is just another Democrat language perversion that does the opposite of what it portends. It’s nothing less than the destruction of the idea of “Meritocracy”, a foundational principle of the American dream. In fact, even the term “Meritocracy” is now considered racist. It has led to the Vice President and most members of Brandon’s cabinet being selected on the basis of their skin color or gender or “professed” gender.
Now our Vice President says we should distribute hurricane aid based on skin color. DEI has brought about illegal laws that call for firing whites first, for hiring whites last, and for idiocy like the “Menstrual Protection Act” in Oregon that mandates installing tampon dispensers in every boys restroom in every public school in the state. Seriously, go look it up. Now we are hiring commercial Pilots and admitting applicants to college and even Medical schools and Law schools based, not on merit, but on race! That should work out well. And, oh yeah, the woke military now can’t even meet 70% of its recruiting goals so they are lowering physical and even mental standards and painting “rainbow bullets” on Marine helmets in recruiting ads. And now our military is about killing babies instead of killing the enemy and will pay female soldiers to go to other states to get late term abortions. We have biological males destroying women’s sports and we have a transgender fake “Admiral” as the “highest ranking official of the U.S. Public Health Service”. He/She? also thinks that it’s O.K. to mutilate and castrate children in the name of “gender equity”.
Unless every single one of these mentally diseased, communist Democrats is voted out of office, you will cede this country and your children’s future to a corrupt, lawless, dystopian society that will become progressively poorer and more and more totalitarian.
