New York Times Story on Donald Trump Jr. Smells Fishy

The entire establishment media is staking the future of the sweeping Trump-Russia conspiracy on a meeting between President Donald Trump’s son and a Russian lawyer offering negative information on Hillary Clinton.

Trump returned from the G-20 to be greeted by yet another coordinated media assault on his presidency and as usual, the New York Times is the one throwing this latest handful of crap against the wall to see if it sticks.

According to the latest developments, Donald Trump Jr. met with Natalia Veselnitskaya in what appears to be a honey trap. Ms. Veselnitskaya alleged that she had some dirt on Hillary Clinton that she would make available.

According to Trump Jr., he acknowledged meeting with the Russian but quickly recognized that she had no credibility and ended the meeting but not before stepping into a trap that could later be used to sow the seeds of suspicion that the Kremlin was colluding with Team Trump.

The really interesting thing about the meeting that the anti-Trump forces are pouncing on today is that there is a link to the mysterious entity known as Fusion GPS which is behind the dirty dossier claiming that Donald Trump frolicked with peeing prostitutes in a Moscow hotel.

According to a report by Circa.com “Donald Trump Jr. gathered members of campaign for meeting with Russian lawyer before election”:

Shortly before his father was formally nominated for president last summer, Donald Trump Jr. was approached by a Russian lawyer who set up a meeting to discuss a Russian policy, according to interviews with Trump family lawyers.

President Trump’s eldest son briefly gathered others for the meeting, including his brother-in-law Jared Kushner, as well as then-presidential campaign manager Paul Manafort for the meeting at Trump Tower in New York City with the lawyer, identified by Trump family lawyers as Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Veselnitskaya used the meeting in June 2016 to have a conversation about a U.S. law called the Magnitsky Act that Russia leader Vladimir Putin reviles and has retaliated against by blocking U.S. adoptions of Russian children.

The encounter was short and the Trump team had no further contact with the woman or the policy issue, lawyers said.

The meeting was recently disclosed to congressional investigators by one of the attendees, according to sources directly familiar with the disclosure.

President Trump was not aware of the meeting and did not attend it, according to the lawyers. A translator and an American businessman working for a pro-Russian business lobby also attended the meeting, which lasted about 20 minutes, according to the interviews.

The president’s legal team said Saturday they believe the entire meeting may have been part of a larger election-year opposition effort aimed at creating the appearance of improper connections between Trump family members and Russia that also included a now-discredited intelligence dossier produced by a former British intelligence agent named Christopher Steele who worked for a U.S. political firm known as Fusion GPS.

“We have learned from both our own investigation and public reports that the participants in the meeting misrepresented who they were and who they worked for,” said Mark Corallo, a spokesman for President Trump’s legal team. “Specifically, we have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports, was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the President and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier. “

“These developments raise serious issues as to exactly who authorized and participated in any effort by Russian nationals to influence our election in any manner,” Corallo said.

Veselnitskaya is identified in court documents as a former Russian prosecutor and private lawyer in Moscow who had been representing the Russian businessman Denis Katsyv and his Prevezon Holdings, against a U.S. Department of Justice a civil asset forfeiture case. In one document, she described having trouble getting a visa from the U.S.

The whole thing has the same distinctly familiar funny smell about it, especially the involvement of Fusion GPS which according to reports, is not cooperating with congressional investigators.

If this happened in June 2016 it could be proof that the plot against Trump was already in full swing and ready to be rolled out.

There are a lot of questions that need to be answered here, most of all who is behind this entire operation. This humble author’s personal guess is that at a minimum it would include the big three heads of Obama’s intelligence agencies – James Clapper, James Comey and John Brennan.

The positive is that this is all that’s left in the arsenal and is being used to carpet bomb the Trump campaign with sleazy innuendo after everything else has failed.

This is a last, desperate gasp to sink any sort of normalization with Russia – if it had any credibility it would have already been rolled out months ago.

Trump Jr. has agreed to a request to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee – when will Fusion GPS do the same?
