Watch Live: President Trump holds MAGA rally in Charlotte, NC – 10/26/18

  • Two tight races in the area

President Donald Trump will hold a Make America Great Again rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, Friday to support two U.S. House candidates who are in close election races.

Area Races

North Carolina’s 9th and 13th Congressional districts border Charlotte, NC, where the president will hold his rally. The president’s appearance will be a welcome boost to Mark Harris and Ted Budd who are separated from their opponents by only single-digits.

Harris vs. McCready (NC-9)

Republican candidate Mark Harris is battling Democrat Dan McCready for the North Carolina 9th Congressional District (NC-9) seat of Republican Robert Pittenger whom Harris defeated in a primary earlier this year in a close 48-46 tally. In the most recent poll, McCready holds a 4-point lead, but that’s within the margin of error making the race a statistical dead-heat.

McCready is a typical pro-choice, pro-amnesty for illegal aliens, anti-gun Democrat. His campaign website uses softly-worded phrases like “common sense gun control” to mask his extreme-left positions, but it shouldn’t fool voters. These aren’t North Carolina values, these are California, Massachusetts, and New York values.

McCready is only close in this race due to a massive inflow of outside money. The Democrat has raised almost three times as much as Harris and has a massive amount of cash left to spend.

Almost $2.9 million in outside/out-of-state funding has been used to support McCready and/or oppose Mark Harris while only $1.5 million has been put in-service of Harris. McCready’s campaign is largely funded by extreme-left, non-North Carolina money.

North Carolinians should be wary of having their votes bought by wealthy and powerful outside interests. Only $297,000 of McCready’s $4.3 million in contributions came from small individual contributions. The rest is from large donors expecting to have bought the candidate should he win.

The top three sectors giving money to McCready were:

  • Insurance, Bankers, and Real Estate
  • Ideological groups (gun control, progressive turnout, etc)
  • Lawyers and lobbyists (the swamp)

This district went to President Trump by an 11.6-point margin in 2016 and Friday’s rally is likely to stoak voter support for Harris and energize his support to get to the ballot box.

Budd vs. Manning (NC-13)

Republican incumbent Representative Ted Budd holds a slim 3-point lead over Democrat challenger Kathy Manning, according to a recent poll.

Kathy Manning is another anti-gun, pro-abortion, pro-amnesty for illegal aliens Democrat that shares the views of politicians like Nancy Pelosi. She has a failing 13% rating from the NRA and her most prominent donor is Emily’s List, an extreme pro-abortion ideological group. In fact, the top sectors donating to her campaign are:

  • Bankers/Insurance/Real Estate (big money)
  • Ideological groups (anti-gun, pro-abortion, etc)
  • Lawyers and Lobbyists (the swamp)

NC-13 went for Trump by a 9.4-point margin in 2016 and the president’s endorsement of Budd and appearance in the area will energize his supporters to get to the ballot box.
