Facebook: Message Banning Two Popular Conservative Content Creators Is ‘Inaccurate’

Facebook seems to regret banning two highly popular conservative women from Facebook earlier in April, telling The Daily Caller News Foundation that the message purporting their content is “unsafe” is “inaccurate.”

The dynamic duo, known as Diamond and Silk, are known for creating and publishing videos on multiple social media platforms. The content includes discussions of current events, but often in ways that are either silly or supportive of President Donald Trump. In apparent correlation with Trump’s political success, the two content creators grew wildly popular in recent years, increasing their viewership and followers substantially on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

But their account was allegedly being restricted last year around September, and so they started correspondence with the tech giant to see why. Eventually, months later, they received a finalized explanation, which, in their eyes, was a disappointing one.

“The Policy team has came to the conclusion that your content and your brand has been determined unsafe to the community,” a recent message Facebook sent to Diamond and Silk reportedly reads. “This decision is final and it is not appeal-able in anyway.”

A Facebook spokeswoman told TheDCNF that such an answer to their inquiries was a mistake.

“We have communicated directly with Diamond And Silk about this issue,” the company representative said. “The message they received last week was inaccurate and not reflective of the way we communicate with our community and the people who run Pages on our platform. We have provided them with more information about our policies and the tools that are applicable to their Page and look forward to the opportunity to speak with them.”

It’s not exactly clear if all of their social media capabilities — uploading, distribution, and engagement features, like promoting, the latter of which was never actually taken away —  are available.

Nevertheless, as previously reported, it appears that there is either a dissonance in judgement by Facebook’s content moderators, or a caving to pressure, as thousands of Diamond and Silk supporters clamored over allegedly unfair, unequal treatment.

Facebook several times has been blamed for removing certain posts and images that presumably don’t accord with the beliefs of its more liberal leaders like Zuckerberg.

A small town business that sells outdoor clothing, sporting goods, and in some instances, firearms, protested months ago when Facebook pulled its afforded advertising capacity. The tech company told TheDCNF it took actions against the family-owned and operated shop due to its rules, which restrict promotions of items like American flags if that purveyor’s Facebook page also happens to include links that ultimately lead to the selling of guns.

Diamond and Silk have not yet responded to TheDCNF’s request for comment.
