New York Shake Shack to Test Out Robotic Personnel in Blow to $15 Minimum Wage

Commie-lite crackpot Bernie Sanders has become a political force among young, uneducated and unskilled Americans because like the candy man, he is promising them free stuff.

Free college tuition, free health insurance and other socialist bennies which someone inevitably has to pay for and it won’t be Bernie’s Bolsheviks. One of the more popular crusades of the socialist left is the so-called “Fight For $15” which pushes for a national $15 an hour minimum wage that will unite the burger flippers of the world.

What Bernie and his fellow con artists in the Democratic party fail to tell their young dupes is that by having the government mandate $15 an hour for jobs that you could get trained monkeys to do more accurately, that they will eventually end up on the losing end as employers cut staffing and raise prices to accommodate the higher wages.

Some companies are on the cutting edge and look to eliminate the need for these workers entirely through increased automation and the introduction of robotics into your local fast food emporiums.

One example is Shake Shack.

The restaurant that former President Barack Obama and his Sancho Panza Joe Biden once touted as a fast food restaurant that was ahead of the curve in paying higher wages has now made Barry’s prophecy come true because it’s ahead of the curb on replacing lazy, unreliable complainers with robots.

Robots will replace humans and cash won’t be accepted at a soon-to-open Shake Shack in the East Village, reps for the popular burger chain said Monday.

Customers will place orders via an app and at touch-screen kiosks inside the restaurant, which is scheduled to open an Astor Place branch later this month, according to company CEO Randy Garutti.

Workers dubbed “hospitality champs” will guide diners through possible tech glitches as they place orders at the kiosks, which only accept credit cards.

Diners can also pay on smartphones and tablets using the restaurant’s app.

“The Astor Place Shack will be a playground where we can test and learn the ever-shifting needs of our guests,” Garutti said. “[It] represents our dedication to innovation and to providing the best for our guests and for our teams.”

Buzzers at the burger joint, which was founded by famed restaurateur Danny Meyer, will be replaced by text messages to alert diners when their food is ready.

The new notification model allows customers to roam outside the restaurant while waiting for their burgers, fries and shakes. When their order is ready, they pick it up at a counter.

The chain plans to use the Astor Place branch as a testing ground for the cashless kiosk model, which eliminates the job of cashier. It also gets rid of its traditional order placing area.

The remaining staff will be paid the $15 an hour for now but once the robotics are fine-tuned, they will soon be rendered obsolete.

Bernie’s followers may worship the ground that the old goat walks on but he has been working on a vastly outdated business model that was better equipped for Russian cabbage pickers than the modern high-tech economy.

While I personally don’t eat much fast food anymore – partly due to health concerns and because the product is lousy – it would be a welcome improvement to customers who want their orders to be correct and their fries to be free of black curlies.

The fight for $15 is already over even if the Democrats and union zombies are still staggering around not knowing what hit them.
