That is the story being reported as the Department of Justice is seeking the IP addresses of 1.3 million visitors to the #DisruptJ20 group that called for open rebellion on the weekend of Trump’s inauguration.
The request for the information has been fought by the organization’s web hosting company and is being decried by the left who have suddenly discovered that they don’t like the type of mass surveillance and police state powers of the government now that Barack Obama is no longer in office.
As long as it was Obama, the vast majority of the left, Democrats and the media defended Barry’s transformation of the NSA into his own personal Stasi, this was exposed by former government contractor turned whistleblower Edward Snowden in 2013.
They can squeal until their throats are raw but there were plenty of opportunities to reign in the surveillance machine during Obama’s eight-year reign of terror and the left had less than zero interest in doing a damned thing about it.
Now they are about to be hoisted upon their own petards.

The Guardian is reporting “US government demands details on all visitors to anti-Trump protest website”:
The US government is seeking to unmask every person who visited an anti-Trump website in what privacy advocates say is an unconstitutional “fishing expedition” for political dissidents.
The warrant appears to be an escalation of the department of justice’s campaign against anti-Trump activities, including the harsh prosecution of inauguration day protesters.
On 17 July, the department of justice served a website-hosting company, DreamHost, with a search warrant for every piece of information it possessed that was related to a website that was used to coordinate protests during Donald Trump’s inauguration. The warrant covers the people who own and operate the site, but also seeks to get the IP addresses of 1.3 million people who visited it, as well as the date and time of their visit and information about what browser or operating system they used.
The website, www.disruptj20.org, was used to coordinate protests and civil disobedience on 20 January, when Trump was inaugurated.
“This specific case and this specific warrant are pure prosecutorial overreach by a highly politicized department of justice under [Attorney General Jeff] Sessions,” said Chris Ghazarian, general counsel for DreamHost. “You should be concerned that anyone should be targeted simply for visiting a website.”
I personally have mixed feelings on this.
Over the years I have consistently been a vocal critic of the NSA and other intelligence agencies and contractors that have been snooping on and conducting data mining operations against millions of Americans. They have every text, email, web search, phone call (at least the metadata), financial details, political affiliations, medical information and everything else that you can imagine on ALL of us.
There is zero legitimate oversight or accountability and as was just seen with Susan Rice and other high Obama administration officials who abused their positions of power to “unmask” Americans for political reasons, this information can be easily abused just as it is in any police state.
Quite simply, this is unconstitutional yet it continues to grow exponentially and massive NSA data storage facilities like the one out in Utah are being filled to capacity with the most intimate details on Americans for vaguely defined future use.
But on the other hand, the legitimately elected government of the United States and its officials have good reason to use every resource at their disposal to put down attempts to overthrow it through illegitimate means. This is what is currently ongoing and while the vast majority of the #DisruptJ20 visitors are useful idiots, that data could provide some insight into who exactly is financing the ongoing efforts to have President Trump removed from office.
With the escalating violence taking place that won’t be limited to beating up Trump supporters and vandalizing statues but rather triggering a domestic color revolution like the one that took place in Ukraine back in 2014, it is imperative for the preservation of order for the government to use every tool in the toolbox to find out who is behind all of this and then use every anti-terrorist law on the books to go after them.
It is truly hysterical to see the protests against this from the same people who sat on their hands during the entirety of the Obama regime and excused every incursion on the privacy rights of Americans now that they are the ones who stand to be rooted out.
