Democrat Accuses U.S. Army of Encouraging White Supremacy

The Democrats are as trapped by identity politics as Br’er Rabbit was by the Tar Baby in the famous Uncle Remus story and there is no sign that there is any desire to become disentangled.

Such is that topic of yet another story about a Democrat playing the race card. This time it is a no-name congresswoman from New York named Yvette Clarke who is up in arms that the U.S. Army is refusing to erase the names of two Confederate generals from streets at Brooklyn’s Fort Hamilton.

Congresswoman Clarke and other Democrats were rebuffed by the Army which has more important things to do than listen to the perpetual whining of racially motivated nincompoops to revise history in a matter that is consistent with the Taliban.

Clarke is royally pissed off and has suggested that the Army is encouraging white supremacy.

In case you haven’t already guessed, Clarke is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, a self-segregating gaggle of clowns that deliberately choose to identify themselves by their skin color, something that would not be tolerated if anyone ever decided to form a Congressional White Caucus. But double standards and hypocrisy serve as the coin of the realm with the Democrats.

According to The Washington Examiner “Army refuses to scrub Confederate names from Brooklyn base”:

The U.S. Army won’t scrub the names of Confederate generals from a base in New York City, military officials told Congress.

A group of Democratic lawmakers asked the Army in June to rename a pair of streets at Fort Hamilton, in Brooklyn, which currently honoring Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson, part of a broader effort to take down Confederate memorials across the country. But the Army rebuffed the appeal.

“After over a century, any effort to rename memorializations on Fort Hamilton would be controversial and divisive,” Diane Rendon, an official in the Army’s bureau of manpower and reserve affairs, wrote in a July 20 letter. “This is contrary to the nation’s original intent in naming these streets, which was the spirit of reconciliation.”

Rep. Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y., mocked the decision as a victory for white supremacy. “That ‘reconciliation’ was actually complicity by the North and the South to ignore the interests of African Americans and enforce white supremacy, effectively denying the result of the Civil War for generations,” she said Monday. “These monuments are deeply offensive to the hundreds of thousands of Brooklyn residents and members of the armed forces stationed at Fort Hamilton whose ancestors Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson fought to hold in slavery.”

Rendon disputed that contention in the letter while acknowledging the “significance and sensitivity” of the street names. “Streets on our military installations are often named for a soldier who holds a place of significance in our military history,” she wrote. “The great generals of the Civil War, Union and Confederate, are an inextricable part of our military history. The men in question were honored on Fort Hamilton as individuals, not as representatives of any particular cause or ideology.”

“This fight isn’t over yet,” Clarke added in a pair of tweets. “I will continue to call on [the U.S. Army] to reckon with history & remove the names of Confederate generals from Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn.”

You can count on Congresswoman Clarke and her CBC allies to continue to waste time and taxpayer money on stupid, divisive and futile crusades like this one instead of putting their noses to the grindstone and helping to fix the real problems in America that affect everybody and not just whiny identity groups.

  1. Democrats in 2017 are all about seeing racism in nearly every issue, and being consumed with identity politics, and political correctness – which is a good part of the reason they’ve lost 1000 seats in state legislatures and there are 34 Republican governors. It also helped get Trump elected as he was the only Republican candidate willing to stand up to the pc crowd.
