Republicans back Pelosi in return to house .. kinda

House Republicans are having a bit of fun at the expense of Nancy Pelosi by “backing” her for another term as the Democratic parties queen for the next two years.

The National Republican Congressional Committee released a statement offering its full support behind Pelosi’s bid to direct the Democratic party’s House membership for another two years:

With Nancy Pelosi facing a challenge within her own party after House Democrats’ disastrous election results, the NRCC would like to offer its full support to the embattled former Speaker of the House.

Under Nancy Pelosi’s leadership, House Democrats squandered their majority by forcing through unpopular legislation like Obamacare, of which Pelosi famously told us, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” After her party’s devastating 63 seat loss in the ensuing 2010 election, Pelosi miraculously maintained her spot as Democratic leader, which, predictably, led to the largest Republican majority since the 1920s.

Former Speaker Pelosi has also established herself as the world’s worst election prognosticator. Since her relegation to the minority, Pelosi has repeatedly assured reporters, cycle after cycle, that a Democrat majority is right around the corner, only to be soundly defeated each time.

“No single person deserves more credit for House Republicans’ historic majority than Nancy Pelosi,” said NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Under Nancy Pelosi’s leadership, House Democrats have become completely irrelevant, and there is no better way to ensure that remains the case than by keeping her as Minority Leader. The NRCC offers its full support to Nancy Pelosi as she attempts to fend off this challenge to her failed leadership from within the ranks of her own party.”

Rep. Pelosi is largely blamed for the gridlock in Washington and the failure of Democrats to retake the majority in 2016. This afternoon , Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio announced that he would be challenging former (extremely former) speaker Pelosi for the minority leader’s position.

Pelosi has publicly announced that she has the support of 2/3rds of the Democratic House caucus, but that was before she had an announced challenger from a state she lost.

Tim  Ryan might actually realize that the plight of the millennials and billionaires is not the fight that wins elections. There are only so many unthinking college students and scheming oligarchs – more votes than that are needed to win elections.

Nancy is from California where everything is decided by the very rich and the very poor (heavy college debt = poor.) She is out-of-touch with real Americans and has no ability to understand why or how they might vote. That is why she lost more state legislatures to republicans than anyone in recent history, lost the White House and failed to gain either chamber of the U.S. Congress.

Ryan might be a good pick if Democrats are interested in earning votes by actually getting the economy going again, compromising with Republicans to make good policy and otherwise … governing, but that’s not the Democratic party America has seen for the last 8 years.

Either way, the GOP wins. Either the country gets someone willing to help make America great again or the same old worthless, tone-deaf, self-aggrandizing ideologue that has run the nation, a presidential election and the Democratic party into the ground.
