The FBI announced Friday that it is reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s illegal email server as it has suddenly found more evidence in the case.
“The FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation,” FBI Director Comey said in a letter to top members of Congress on Friday.
Comey did not go into detail about the contents of the emails, but did say that they were found “in connection with an unrelated case.”
“The FBI’s decision to reopen its investigation into Secretary Clinton reinforces what the House Judiciary Committee has been saying for months: the more we learn about Secretary Clinton’s use of a private email server, the clearer it becomes that she and her associates committed wrongdoing and jeopardized national security,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said in a statement.
Comey has only said that the new evidence will be reviewed, but did not offer details into how important the new emails might be.
It is unusual for the FBI to issue a letter to congressional leaders about new evidence in a closed case.

Donald Trump shared the news with his supporters at a rally Friday saying, “”I have great respect for the fact the FBI and the Department of Justice are willing and have the courage to right the horrible mistake that they made.”
