Glenn Beck suspended, may lose major syndication outlet over threatening comments on Trump
Ah jeez. Glenn Beck has been missing since last week and according to Politico it’s not just for a little vacay with the fam.
Last week, fiction writer Brad Thor appeared on Beck’s program and suggested GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump was a danger to America and that citizens would have to take means that may not be legal in order to get Trump out of office. Beck did not immediately admonish or distance himself from the comments, leading to the suspension by SiriusXM.
While Brad Thor has since come out saying “Hell no, I wasn’t talking about assassination,” Beck’s organization has only distanced themselves from the suspension announcement by saying that Glenn has just been on a long planned vacation. Becks spots on the Patriot Channel was filled by David Webb while the blaze channel on Sirius was hosted by Doc Thompson and Skip LaCombe.
Sirius is standing firm:
Comments recently made by a guest on the independently produced Glenn Beck Program, in our judgement, may be reasonably construed by some to have been advocating harm against an individual currently running for office, which we cannot and will not condone. For that reason, we have suspended The Glenn Beck Program from our Patriot channel for the coming week and are evaluating its place in our lineup going forward.
There is a whole lot of caveating in there. Phrases like “may be reasonably construed” and “evaluating its place in our lineup” sound more like “we had to do something, so we did this.. so please don’t boycott stuff or write us.. we did stuff.”
Did Thor put the idea of taking Trump out on the table? Was he out of line or putting “the blood of patriots” to the test? Heck, that’s what the comment section is for!
If you missed it, here’s the full audio of Glenn Beck talking with Brad Thor about “measures.”
And my question is “What took so long?
