Huckabee meets with Netanyahu, blasts Obama’s Iran deal
JERUSALEM – Former Arkansas Governor and 2016 GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee held a private meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem early Wednesday, discussing national security and the dangers of the Iran nuclear deal.
The former Arkansas governor has held numerous meetings with Knesset leaders and national security officials in the Jewish state this week. After a news conference in Jerusalem highlighting his trip, he released the following statement:
“It was great to visit with my friend Benjamin Netanyahu and so many other Israeli friends this week. I have known The Prime Minister for about 20 years and feel he is the Churchill in a world of Chamberlains.
“Most people I’ve met in Israel ask the same thing, ‘Why does Obama trust Iran and its evil Ayatollahs?” It makes no sense for the international community to inject $150 billion into Iran when we should be punishing these murderers by tightening the noose with suffocating sanctions.
“This toothless, embarrassing deal poses a direct threat to Israel, will trigger a nuclear arms race across the Middle East, and unleash a new wave of deadly Iranian-backed terrorism throughout the world. Their ultimate target by their own admission is the United States. It must be stopped.”
